Here in AMC24 Omaha we apparently lost signal for 5 - 10 minutes for the first gorilla-gram - but I'm happy to say they offered make goods for the people who hung around and were polite in asking what happened.

Having watched Starship Troopers 1000 times, it was easy to hear in our theatre the surround channels were totally out of balance - READ WAY TOO LOUD - with the Rifftrax gang. I'm wondering if this was a trasmission issue from Belmont or if it was our individual mix at the theatre.

What's the best way to troubleshoot sound mix for future shows? I'm not familiar with the Fathom event system, but it seems that it's just a satellite uplink? I know if it was my system at home, I'd have killed the surround channels and piped the center channel to all speakers, as we're obviously all here to listen to the riffs vs. the crazy explosions.

Everything I could hear made me nearly pee my pants laughing - best riff of the night: "You're it until you're dead or I find someone better." -- "Ah, my wedding vows..." brought down the house by us.

Can't wait for the next one!

Maybe they shouldn't riff "new" action movies (maybe 1980's and more recent)?? Here's my 10cents....

One of the problems for an old bastard (and frankly, long term headbanger and still lead guitarist) is that when they riff new movies stuff, the sound quality is so good that the riffing voices the and background sounds are fighting at all frequencies. Old movies will cut off (or at least attentuate dramatically) at higher frequencies, so the riffing can be heard much more clearly.

Starship Troopers is an action movie, ergo also a movie where there is little time where there is NO sound/dialog - making riffing on top of noise/vocals essential.

We also loved "sounds like my marriage vows" - classic from Mike.

In the time it takes me to type this, I could find tons of videos with hotter content than what we would've witnessed in that shower scene. I remember being about 14 and enduring just AWFUL movies late at night on HBO and Showtime (no Cinemax, the one that would've consistently delivered >_<) and checking the content warnings beforehand to see what the chances were of seeing something good. But those days are long over.

MY complaint is that I felt it sort of killed the momentum of the riffing. They got their rhythm back, but in my opinion, it took a couple minutes, and combine that with the length of the gorilla gag itself, and it was something of a black hole in an otherwise outstanding show.

For the sake of getting an extra laugh out of it, though, I'll just harken back to their short Remember Me, and assume that it was a hooker in the gorilla suit. And, yes, as promised, it was a QUALITY gorilla suit.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

I was in Woodland Hills and I too had the problem of action scenes being too loud, much like when I sync rifftrax mp3's.  I brought two Rifftrax Live newcomers and they noticed the same thing. Plus they said they were distracted whenever you'd pull out for wide shot of Bellcourt.

As great of time we had, I can't help but think that Starship Troopers is just too 'busy' a movie for a proper live riffing.

It got better as the movie progressed.

i didn't notice any problem with the audio, but maybe my ears are just completely amazing/terrible [delete whichever is inapplicable].

Once again taken seriously by some of you guys. I meant the shower scene was too loud! I couldn't hear the gorilla.....
