Just got back from watching the live RiffTrax Starship Troopers show. Which isn't the same as HEARING the show. The movie, with all of its explosions and music and gunfire, was mixed way too loud, and we could only hear about half of what Kevin, Bill, and Mike were saying (if that much). What a disappointment. I want half my money back!

Same experience here. I wish they'd been able to duck the movie audio during the riff lines.

Hopefully they will fix it for the live show download that is coming later.

Edit: Looks like I missed the news that there isn't going to be a live show download after all.

You guys are complaining about noise when we didn't get to see the shower scenes. For shame, gentlemen (ladies if need be).

That scene was like 2 minutes long and you can look it up on the Internet if you're that hard up.

Yeah. And even back when I saw this in the theater, I remember Dina Meyer not being that impressive.

You shut your mouth! She is a goddess come from the heavens! More importantly the delightful girl who wants to be a journalist, scrumptious.

They really cut out the shower scene? Wow.

I was in the audience at the Nashville/Belcourt room and the situation there was almost the opposite: Guys were very loud and movie was relatively soft (perhaps that was to keep it from bleeding into their mics and messing up things for everyone else; not sure).  Either I got used to it after a while or the adjusted partway through, but the first few minutes were especially quiet; almost hard to hear the movie at all.

Overall a really solid riff; just too bad they couldn't get the rights to VOD it.

Just like everyone - still had a great time, but honestly only hear 25% of the guys dialog due to the movie being mixed WAY TOO LOUD and not hearing.  There really isn't any excuse - there should be someone sitting external to the event in a broadcast theater able to communicate to the live crew about these things (like messed up video or the like), or at the very least, someone at Fathom Master Control.  I understand, possibly, in a production truck audio sounding perfect, but it really needs to be checked at the end location.  TV stations watch live feeds of themselves all the time to make sure the end product is working and correct.

I am looking forward to the mp3 release so we can actually hear what was said.

Still had a great time, though - and hope Norman comes back for the Night of the Living Dead.

Not really.  They sort of drowned it out with a sight gag.  Kevin got everyone a "Gorilla-Gram" to honor the 7th anniversary of Rifftrax.  The Gorilla-Gram was a guy in a gorilla suit with a bunch of festive balloons.  During the shower scene, and again later during a sex scene, they cut away from the movie to focus on the Gorilla-Gram.  The movie continued playing, and anyone who was at the Belcourt in Nashville would have been able to see it, but the people watching at remote theaters couldn't.

JohnnyOmaha

Here in AMC24 Omaha we apparently lost signal for 5 - 10 minutes for the first gorilla-gram - but I'm happy to say they offered make goods for the people who hung around and were polite in asking what happened.

Having watched Starship Troopers 1000 times, it was easy to hear in our theatre the surround channels were totally out of balance - READ WAY TOO LOUD - with the Rifftrax gang. I'm wondering if this was a trasmission issue from Belmont or if it was our individual mix at the theatre.

What's the best way to troubleshoot sound mix for future shows? I'm not familiar with the Fathom event system, but it seems that it's just a satellite uplink? I know if it was my system at home, I'd have killed the surround channels and piped the center channel to all speakers, as we're obviously all here to listen to the riffs vs. the crazy explosions.

Everything I could hear made me nearly pee my pants laughing - best riff of the night: "You're it until you're dead or I find someone better." -- "Ah, my wedding vows..." brought down the house by us.

Can't wait for the next one!

No mention of Professor Bobo, but I enjoyed it anyway.  I was attending with my daughter; she was probably just relieved she didn't have to watch a nude scene sitting next to her MOM!
Flat, drab passion meanders across the screen!

The shower scene was a magical moment for me when I, as a 17 year old boy, saw this in theaters back in the day.  But I'm a grown man and we have the Internet now and I'm like "meh".

Tripe

Okay see they're doing something with the scene, that's much more interesting than any riffs that could have likely been done then, if it had actually been cut out that would have been, weird.

Me too, man. I believe it was the first time I'd seen nudity oncsreen at the ripe old age of almost 19.

I think it was a hilarious twist. I booed in the theatre, of course, but that was more for the laughs than any actual anger.

Fathom Master Control.

Well, there's your problem! He doesn't have any ears.
