As for the theme music part... seems there are conflicting accounts.

No music  http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1554005/20070306/story.jhtml

One final change might just be the most controversial of them all: The dropping of the famous "Halloween" theme composed by Carpenter. "The plan was at some point to [remake it], to change it around," Zombie said, revealing that it has since been shelved. "The actual way it sounds now doesn't really work with what we're doing."

Using the music  http://www.halloweenmovies.com/h9_lobby.html

QUESTION: Since you are a musician, will you be doing the entire music score for the film, or will you be collaborating with anyone else? And will you integrate any of John Carpenter's classic themes into the score? (from Craig)
RZ: I do not plan on doing the score for this film myself other than in a supervisor position. I have already done some work with the composer and we both feel that Carpenter's themes are classic and will play an important role.

They use it (a tiny bit) in the trailer but that's all marketing's stuff. Rob Z doesn't command the power to have total final say on the marketing like some of the big dogs.

I say hope they keep it in, but who knows?

BD: So there was a misconception about the music...

RZ: Yeah I don't know how that started, and I don't care how it started. You know what the music is? Undecided at this point. We always wanted to use pieces of the original score, kind of redone to fit our picture. But we haven't done it yet, so I don't like to lock myself in and say we're definitely going to do anything. Because one thing you can't judge is music against the picture, until you're in the editing room cutting. But more than likely we're going to use pieces of the classic themes.

I don't know what movie you watched, but Eli Roth's Cabin Fever does not in any way give itself off as a spoof.

It aped three decades of classic horror films, only it replaced any semblance of horror with humor.  Are you suggesting that Dennis, the inbred Kung Fu fightin' kid, is meant to be taken seriously?

And it wasn't really intended to be scary in a traditional sense, but more unnerving; the film is supposed to make you uneasy.

If that's true, then Roth failed far more spectacularly than I gave him credit for.

Here ya go:

1. She looks like a tranny.

2. You don't have to be too attentive to read the question, "Where's Lynda?" As in PJ Soles' character from the original.

3. I'm super thirsty, so I'mma go get a drink.

You know, that's exactly the thing I thought when I first saw the picture.  I don't think I'll be posting anymore of her though...   ;)

I didn't say it isn't intended to feature humor. I said that it isn't intended to be a straight comedy, but a horror film with comic elements. BTW, the kid's fighting skills wasn't a part of the script. The actor was doing that off-camera, and Roth decided to have him do it in the film.

Really? It wasn't unnerving in any way? I mean, I can handle most things, but some of the things in Cabin Fever, including the girl's skin coming off when she shaves her legs in the tub, was pretty hard to watch. Eli went out of his way to make the film unsettling, and I don't believe anyone who claims that they weren't uneasy during any moment in the film.

I, too, found Cabin Fever, unsettling, (which is a good word to use).  Scary?  No.  Disturbing, yah.

That's all I have to say about that.

I liked it but I didn't find it unsettling or scary... I actually have a really hard time nailing down what I like about it.  Maybe just the 'by a horror fanboy for horror fanboys' vibe.

Fair enough.  For me, the comic elements were so pervasive that they completely overwhelmed any attempt at horror.  I haven't seen interviews with Roth where he discusses what he was trying to accomplish, so I don't know what his intentions were.  I was giving him the benefit of the doubt by assuming his focus was humor, since as a spoof I thought the film worked quite well.  As a horror film with comic elements, not so much.

Not for me.  I credit Roth for coming up with a number of very good gross-out moments, but even the most grotesque of them -- I give that honor to the finger-bang scene -- was reduced to dark comedy in the context of the rest of the film.

I should point out that I've seen a whopping lot of horror movies, so gore alone doesn't tend to disturb me that much.

Loves it. I have Local H's cover of Toxic and it's wonderful. Anyway, I answered my own question through research and she's being played by some slutty, chubby 20 something.
