...

I thought Jubilee was played by some little asian girl that we only saw for a split second in one of the X-Men movies.

wait there's going to be an X-men 4? I thought Wolverine was going to be the end of it... I guess the guys were right, "pointless sequels are all the rage these days" ;)

hmm, I haven't seen the x-men sequels in quite sometime so I'll give you that one, I guess I was hinting that x-men 4 was because 3 was billed as "the last stand".

Example 1: Saw 1 and 2 contain necessary violence where as Saw 3 contains gratuitous violence. Example 2: Cabin Fever contains necessary violence where as Hostel contains gratuitous violence. Etcetera, etcetera.

What violence in Cabin Fever?  I still don't understand how the hell this movie was even considered Horror.  It was just a bunch of kids getting sick in the most gross way possible.  That's not horror.  Unless the tainted water was chasing them with a knife it's not horror, it's just stupid.  And on a related note, why was Peter Jackson's recommendation for this film even relevent.  I liked the LOTR movies but they aren't anywhere near the horror genre.  That's like saying David Lynch recommends White Chicks.

Well, Jackson has his roots in low-budget, Kiwi horror flicks.  He's actually well known for pretty good zombie films.

He made some shitty horror films in his early days. He's like the polar-opposite of Sam Raimi (who made great low-budget horror in his early days and continues to make great films today).

Come now Dr. Meechum, you can't be serious.

Bad Taste is a landmark!
Grapes? I hate grapes, I can't stand grapes. I loathe grapes. All kinds of grapes. I hate green grapes and I hate purple grapes. I hate grapes with seeds, I hate grapes without seeds. I hate them peeled and nonpeeled. I hate them in bunches, one at a time and in small groups of twos and threes.

As for the theme music part... seems there are conflicting accounts.

No music  http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1554005/20070306/story.jhtml

One final change might just be the most controversial of them all: The dropping of the famous "Halloween" theme composed by Carpenter. "The plan was at some point to [remake it], to change it around," Zombie said, revealing that it has since been shelved. "The actual way it sounds now doesn't really work with what we're doing."

Using the music  http://www.halloweenmovies.com/h9_lobby.html

QUESTION: Since you are a musician, will you be doing the entire music score for the film, or will you be collaborating with anyone else? And will you integrate any of John Carpenter's classic themes into the score? (from Craig)
RZ: I do not plan on doing the score for this film myself other than in a supervisor position. I have already done some work with the composer and we both feel that Carpenter's themes are classic and will play an important role.

They use it (a tiny bit) in the trailer but that's all marketing's stuff. Rob Z doesn't command the power to have total final say on the marketing like some of the big dogs.

I say hope they keep it in, but who knows?

I'm partial to Dead Alive myself.  And The Frighteners is better than it gets credit for.

I'm right with raven on Cabin Fever, though.   Not even remotely scary, although it was clearly intended to be more of a spoof.  I still enjoyed the film for its humor content, though, as well as the prominent appearance of Arrogant Bastard Ale.  I imagine it was the spoof element more than the horror element that garnered Peter Jackson's approval.

I don't know what movie you watched, but Eli Roth's Cabin Fever does not in any way give itself off as a spoof. And it wasn't really intended to be scary in a traditional sense, but more unnerving; the film is supposed to make you uneasy. And I couldn't give a rat's ass what Peter Jackson thinks of it. The real seal of approval came from two better directors - David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino. And, indeed, Roth is a better filmmaker than Jackson as well.
