Lemming Howard

I forgot to check the credits.  Were any tarantulas harmed in the making of that movie?
And I'm worse than Hitler.

This movie was made before that was too big a deal, but yes, many were killed during the making of this movie.  You can actually even SEE some getting killed when people are stomping at them.

Bob

Yeah, they stomped the heck out of many of them.

I also learned that spiders can break windows, sneak in A/C units, fireplaces, zoom in slighty open front doors, but if they get in the basement, they will be stuck there and never learn how to crawl up stairs.

They can also teleport, don't forget that one!

Darth Geek

I learned that spiders are drawn to fry themselves on electrical panels.
Also, apparently Starfleet trains their cadets to be resistant to spider venom.

I also learned that voice-based pagers that work out in the absolute middle of nowhere existed in 1977.

And that small town veterinarians have them.

Which, okay, maybe it's just an elaborate radio or something. But I'd think the receiver on his belt would be the size of box of new checks.  Sort of like the "pager" we see in the "Century 21" short on MST3K.

Rabbi Hi-Keeba

ah... The Bellboy. I love that thing.

I learned that it's possible to have one of these sorts of movies where the scientist-person (except for a brief "no, you can't use poison to kill spiders, you ignorant rube" moment) isn't doing the standard-issue "you can't kill the monster, science has to study it!" thing.

"Burn the spider mound? Hell yeah, we're gonna burn down that spider mound! In fact, why wait 'til morning, let's burn those SOBs right this instant!"

That is true, didn't really think about that before. Even when they find out that they are special spiders with extra powerful venom (which makes them important to study, actually), they have no problem killing them. Although I think that's just an extension of it being a Jaws ripoff, since nobody had any problem (not even the marine biologist) with killing the shark in that one either.

Like Birdemic, I cynically suspect that these nature-rises-up-against-man movies are secretly funded by various industrial groups in order to make environmental concerns look as silly as possible.

Sadly, it seems to be working.

Crow T. Robot,
MST3k, "Jack Frost"

The Snape

To sum it up, there's threatening mounds of spiders and he(Shatner) wants to milk his dead brothers wife!  Yep, to a T

I learned that watching tarantulas get run over on camera actually bugs me--and I hate spiders!
