From a Buick 8

Hello, I have been a fan of MST3K for more then 20 years, I have my son hooked as well. I just stumbled on to Rifftrax and I can not tell you how happy I am to see that the madness continues. Now I just need to figure out how to make this work.

My soon will be excited to hear some new material, we have been surviving on old VHS tapes, and the few DVD's I can find.

Welcome to the boards, friend!

I see you are a Stephen King fan, so you might want to check out the books page.  And in general, we hope that you take part in a lot of discussions.  Always nice to have a new voice here.

Welcome! Also be sure to check out the iRiff section. We have a lot of fan groups that are really funny, several even rival Rifftrax themselves.
I did a list last year showing what some of us here on the boards have voted as our favorites:

Of particular note since you are a Stephen King fan, the TV movie IT has been riffed, as well as the first Children of the Corn movie.

So you have not seen/heard any of the Rifftrax?? I envy you, sir. You are in for a whole new world of funny.  ;)

Thank you for the warm welcome. You assumed correctly i have not heard any rifftrax, looking forward to it.

Well, if I may make a suggestion, try starting with the VODs or prerecorded DVDs. That's not because they're of better quality than the MP3 files, just that they're easier for many folks to deal with. The shorts are also a good choice as well. The DVDs...well, you know how those work. The VODs can be purchased and then downloaded to a computer and either played on a computer/media player or burned to a blank DVD and played normally.  The same goes with the shorts, except they're much smaller in size.

Once you've seen what the boys are doing, you'll be motivated to try the MP3 riffs. But starting off with them discourages a small number of people, and that would be regrettable.

I'd also recommend starting off with a live title, so that you can see the guys again.

I couldn't have said that better, myself.

Thanks for the advice, and that does make sense. I do have a pretty extensive DVD collection that I have ripped to several TB hard drives. I stream these through an appleTV to my HDTV, I think I can just play the riff track through my home stereo while streaming the movie.

I also like the idea of the live titles.

There are also several iRiff groups that have done some VOD titles as well. Turkey Shoot does exclusively VOD content (so far), and his best is Squeek The Squirrel. Quiptracks has 1 episode so far of Quiptracks: The Show, where they riff a Rocky Jones episode. Hor-Riff-ic Productions did a riff of some old Halloween Safety shorts.
