Maybe the reason he asked was because the idea hit him like a stout, red, automaton hitting him in the shin...

Stout? Stout? That bastard... I'm gonna go back and kill him.

Maybe he figures infamy is better than obscurity?
....
Dear god. According to his IMDB entry (he has one) he used to produce, write and direct porno movies.

Pak-Man

Is that REALLY a surprise to anyone? Hobgoblins had Softcore written all over it. :^)

I was going to say, it did explain a lot.  :D

Cosmic Muse

I'd have to say if Mike and company wrren't aware of this movie before, they are now eh? I wonder though, did they reassemble the original cast for this thing?
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

one of the actress's myspace page notes it is due out this halloween.   man.  i just cant wait!

I read that briefly....I think it was generous of them to give the movie cult status. Doesn't that imply that some people somewhere enjoy the movie? And according to that page, she's a model? Isn't basically ANY job better than having your name attached to the word "Hobgoblin"? This of course does not count for the Spider-Man villain by the same name, but that's an entirely different topic.

I remember it was just like yesterday when I first watched MST3K Hobgobllins.... the fact that someone actually supported the making of that movie boggles my mind! I mean jesus I could make a far, far, FAR better movie, 10 more of them for the same amount of money Rick Sloane got!

I'm new to the site, so I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but all MST3K fans know that Hobgoblins was one of the worst movies they ever ridiculed.  Well, I thought Wikipedia was lying to me when they said that a sequel was in the works,,, but it's true.  http://imdb.com/title/tt0962728/

This has GOT to be a RiffTrax episode some day.  If it is, I'm sure it will be embarrassing when I go buy/rent the DVD.

Thoughts?

Gripster, it had already been suggested so I merged your post with the thread already in existence. You can SEARCH for topics if you aren't sure it has been mentioned already.

Welcome to the forum!

I've been a member of another forum for three years, but when I join a new one I still act like a noob.  I guess it's inevitable.

Truthfully my lack of money has made it so that I've only listened to 2 rifftrax, but that will change soon.  I would buy one today but I'm faking sick to get out of school and it would be suspicious if I went out and rented a movie.

Yes, as is the fate of such movies like Manos: The Hands of Fate, Hobgoblins seems to be benfitting from the riffing on Mystery Science Theater 3000, propelling it from mere obscure video on the third rate rental store shelf to cult fav. In fact, Rick Sloane seems to be using this newfound popularity to his advantage and making a...brace yourself, all you MST3K fans...a Hobgoblins sequel. I don't know if this has been brought up before on this board or if such knowledge has been brought to Mike Nelson's attention, but I feel that it needs to be known for those of us who know such fowl movies due to our neverending admiration for all things MST3K.
