I wouldn't do it myself, but I bet someone would bite if, for like $1000, we could buy the opportunity to pick the next Trax. It'd mean extra money for Rifftrax and a chance for fans to get the movie of their choice finally riffed. I can see groups of people pooling together funds to get their favorite/least favorite movie riffed. Rifftrax, of course, would reserve the right to decline a choice based on tastefulness or content.

Just a thought...

careful, Troll 2 fans have deep pockets.

Among other deep things...

Wait, that doesn't make sense.

I haven't had a chance to completly explore the board, can anybody tell me how exactly Rifftrax picks the movies it riffs on? Would it be out of the question to create a running poll (or multiple polls for various genres) for films to be riffed on so that when Rifftrax wanted to have the fans chose a movie, they would just go to the poll(s)?

Conor

We are constantly listening to feedback and there are polls running constantly on the forum and polls.  They don't dictate our decisions exactly, but we've already picked movies like Top Gun based on their strong showing in our polls.  Movie selections are based on the movies availability, content, whether riffing actually works in the movie and length, among other things.  There's a long movie suggestion thread in the General Discussion area, check it out.

And welcome aboard!

Also, paying to pick the movie is an interesting idea, but something like that really only works when the person would be able to pick with no restrictions, and that just won't really work.  You don't want to have to shut down their pick after they've ponied up their dough, but there are just some movies, like say a Showgirls, that people might pick that we wouldn't do.

Something that might work would be to pick a list of movies, and then fans could pony up dough for the movie they want, and whatever movie raised the most money would be riffed.  But that probably won't happen anytime soon.

im glad that wont happen any time soon.  too much available for mischeif

Conor

Probably not that much interest in it either.

sarcasm_made_Easy

i dont think i would go that far, i would have some interest in it.  its nice to feel a part of the overall experince.

Maybe occasional contests to pick a movie. That way there's no money lost if you turn it down. Should only need a few suggestions before the lucky winner strikes gold. :^)

maybe thats what the penguin is doing?

And anywhere else that statement would be a ticket to the loony bin. :^)

Call me crazy, but I'm still holding out hope for that one.

"SLAM IT! BUH BUH!"
...but what do I know?

I wonder how long before the studios catch on and start paying to have their movies riffed to increase their demand at retail rental and netflix...

I may be on to a cash cow here...
