I seriously wished that the hollywood movie rifftrax's would be sold to the public on DVD (examples: harry potter, twilight etc.) I wonder why they haven't done that? Is it because not enough money? Or legal issues? Well it's just my thought, and I will always love what the guys do! I look forward to more of them!

SuperDude

Don't they do that already?

The reason they don't release DVDs of most Rifftrax movies is they would need to get permission and pay huge fees to the rights holders, and that's even assuming the rights holders would have a sense of humor about it.  As it goes, they can release DVD and VOD riffs of public domain material they've done, and they can make mp3s for anything with a copyright. I'd love it for some company to partner with them, adding a Rifftrax to the official DVD and proving they can laugh at themselves, but it's not something I'd hold my breath for.

Do you seriously not understand how copyright law works?

I don't think he meant it like he didn't understand the laws...

I don't know any other way to interpret the post.  It seems pretty obvious to me that copyright laws mean you can't sell copies of someone else's movie.

I took it as "Why can't they add it as a bonus feature on (whatever studio's release)?"

Darth Geek

I think that would be awesome. But even if the filmmaker had a good sense of humor and wanted it as an extra feature, I think studio legal departments would prevent them from doing it.
