Me too, because I think it will indicate just how much he failed to understand my post.
What exactly don't I understand? The Fall of Gondolin took place in the first age as far as I know. So it even has less a chance of being in the movie than Tom Bombadil... in my HUMBLE opinion Imrahil. I hope you will pardon me sir.

YOU'RE ONE OF THE OTHER FIVE! I thought we were all gone. ;)

A BSG final five reference?  Probably not....
Had to look up what that meant , so, no. :)

Sometimes, you just gotta let Rainier Wolfcastle say it.

Congratulations Mr. Jackson, it's triplets!

VIVA IL ESORDIO DEL DIABETE ADULTO DUCE!!!

I really loved the Lord of the Rings films and I'm very much looking forward to The Hobbit films.  I'm a little worried that they might have to stretch the story too thin for a trilogy however.   I can't wait to find out if they can do it, though!

Mutilate is QUITE a strong word. I mean... in comparison to what? What if Michael Bay made the Lord of the rings Trilogy? Or George Lucas? You think you know mutilation...

All I know is that Peter Jackson and his team have nothing but the deepest respect and reverance for Tolkien and the world(s) he made, and I can almost guarantee you never would have seen anything better coming from any other film maker.

Sideswipe

The Lord of the Rings books as written would be almost unfilmable.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

Oh, no question. They are rife with so much rich detail, so much story that you've practically got no choice but to seriously narrow the focus.

Pak-Man

If you wanted to directly film the LotR novels, the camera would have to spend like- 5 minutes focusing on every flower and rock. :^)

I want to see Cronenberg's The Hobbit.

Or "A David Lynch Film"
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

I think PJ likes it, but I listened to the commentary on the first one, and the women were really snide and dismissive about Tolkien's writing.
Really? I listened to all three commentaries myself and I certainly didn't get that impression from Fran Walsh or Philippa Boyens.

Agreed.  I didn't notice any snarkiness about the book or its writing from either of them.  There were a lot of mentions in the commentaries of times where it wasn't possible to stick to the original writings, but I didn't detect any dislike for them.

Yeah! It also occurs to me that in order to truly get into the books(I mean like read them over and over like Christopher Lee does), and subsequently get into Tolkien's head(via his writings)... you do have to have a true love for the material.

A tip of my hat to Peter Jackson on his most recent casting decision:

And a wag of my finger for making it three movies.  I can deal with two, but three?  That's just unnecessary!
