Is it me or is there a long dead space between the guy's introductory bit and when the movie actually starts?

It's you. Are you seeing a dead space here?
If you just watched The Revenge of Dr. X, you are okay. If not, seek medical help immediately.

This is a very funny rifftrax. A 10 for sure, I'd love to see more of these "Grindhouse" type movie's. Great Job.

Loved this one, excellent riffing.  Loye Hawkins, who played the main guy in the movie who was from somewhere in New York (Chelsea I think) has a demo reel on Youtube.  Check it out.

Bob

It's weird he only made one movie and has been a musician ever since.  Good for him.

"Loye Hawkins only acted in two pictures during his short-lived career. Loye made his film debut in his sole lead role as rough'n'tumble streetwise private investigator Al Connors in the delightfully dreadful low-budget blaxploitation obscurity "The Guy from Harlem." His other movie appearance was a small part as a migrant farm worker in the made-for-TV drama "Angel City." Loye is now the lead vocalist of the Loye Hawkins Band, an eclectic quartet who perform jazz, blues, R&B, Latin and Caribbean music. Hawkins is especially fond of the blues and pretty ballads. He cites such artists as Bill Withers, Ella Fitzgerald, Arthur Prysock, Billy Eckstein, Nina Simone, and Nancy Wilson as his early musical heroes."

David

He's never even seen Harlem and is actually from a secret government agency above the CIA.

For details, see the sequel, Agent from H.A.R.L.E.M.

About to watch this one, looking forward to it, given all the high praise. I appreciated the intro, although it seemed kind of unnecessary to remind us all that they are, in fact, white. I think they should have had packages of crackers on the table, though.

I should note that I considered riffing this one as an iRiff but after watching the first five minutes abandoned it as unriffable.  Leave it to MKB to prove me very very wrong.

Does anybody notice that this movie feels like it's two episodes of a TV show put together? Like the Ninja Masters movies. He has essentially two completely seperate "adventures". I kept waiting for the CIA or the African princess to be a factor at the end, but it wasn't even mentioned.

ShadowDog

That's a good point, maybe they were going to do a TV series then just gave up.  Waved and said "Eeeeeh!"
"Did she just say Chipping?"

So is there a forum policy on not linking to the original for these films?  A few friends of mine have been really into the VODs but would like their own opportunity to crack wise...
HEY, THANKS FOR RIFFTRAX-ING THE APPLE!
