Okay, some possible additional challenges:

THEY CANCELLED MST3K FOR THIS?: Watch one film that was a Syfy Channel Original Film. (Easy)
Alternate title: THIS SATURDAY: GIRAFFESHARK VS. LOBSTOSAURUS PRIME!

OKAY, SHOULDN'T IT BE SPELLED SCI-FI?: Watch three films that were SyFy Channel Original Films (Medium)
THEY DO 52 A YEAR, YOU'VE SEEN 10%!: Watch five films that were SyFY Channel Original Movies (Hard)
Those two might be pushing things, with all the other requirements going on.

PRACTICAL EFFECTS: Watch at least one film with Tom Savini in the cast or crew. (Medium)

I SAY SHOOT THEM ANYWAY. THEY MIGHT BE ZOMBIES: Watch a film accompanied by a Rifftrax, iRiff or featured on MST3k. (Easy)

And I'm personally not going to score anything I propose until after someone else has accomplished them. This is to keep me honest.

Quick reviews on the three films I've seen so far:

Scream and Scream Again - Hammer or Amicus horror nonsense that is bad, but bolstered by Price, Lee, and Cushing.

Empire of the Ants - Joan Collins in a Bert I Gordon film, with exactly the calibre of special effects he used 20 years prior.

Apartment 143 - Decent Paranormal Activity knock-off that plays things relatively soberly, except for a silly ending.

Perhaps those of us relying on certain torrent sites for horror movies could synch up one day this month and all watch the same horror movie?

May I suggest Osombie? It's a zombie movie about Osama Bin Laden.

I'm in.  Just let me know what day.

Ok, updated the Challenge list.  Did make a few changes...

The one about 3D was altered to allow for watching a movie originally presented in 3D.  That's a caveat to people who will apparently die if they watch a 3D movie.  If you're not affected with splitting headaches, vomiting, or a sudden desire to grab an ax and chase someone around the attic for a couple of hours, then it has to actually BE in 3D.

I combined the Rob Bottin and Tom Savini into one challenge, and made it 3 movies with effects done by famous special effects people.  If you don't know of any, three are Savini, Bottin, and Stan Winston.  Between them, that covers about 85% of most horror films, so it shouldn't be too hard to pick one of them up.
One Man Band Riffs.  18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.

Okay, I picked up a "50 movie Horror Pack" today and I'm watching a film. I check IMDB for the film title, since I only count them as horror films if IMDB lists it. No entry. I check one of the actress' resumes. No listing for this. I google the title and the director. It turns out I'm watching an episode of "Tales of the Unexpected." Oh, and the episode is 25 minutes long. Yeah. Bailing out on this one.

And four of the 6 "films" on this disc are TV episodes. Unethical advertising jerks. Ooh. One's by Roald Dahl though. I'll take a quick break to watch that one.

Movie #4: The Stuff (1985)

Pretty decent 80's cheese.  The main character used a very strange accent and way of speaking that I found really amusing.  The story is pretty good and the effects aren't bad.  There's some good humor too, unintentional and otherwise.  3/5

Movie #5: Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006)

Classic Troma.  You know what you're getting with them and you either love it or you hate it.  I love it and this movie was a blast.  Laughed consistently throughout and really enjoyed the hell out of it.4/5

Yeah, when I saw the movie on Netflix I remembered seeing that iRiff on the site.  I'll definitely need to buy it.  The movie is very riffable, so I'm sure it's great.

Movie #6: Dead Snow (2009)

Another one I've been meaning to watch for a while.  Kind of disappointing.  When it picks up at the end it got a little better, but most of it didn't hold my interest well. 2.5/5

Movie #7: Them (2006)

I enjoyed this.  If you've seen the film The Strangers, this is pretty similar to that.  A young couple terrorized by home invaders.  Does a pretty good job of building tension and I liked the ending a lot.  3.5/5
