I think she watched Spy Kids 3.... hundred. :D

the long undertow

I think 300 was financed by the shadowy Sit Ups Council.  I wouldn't have thought it possible for there to be a guy movie that is too much of a guy movie, but 300 may very well be such a film.

"he" is a she, and I'm quite certain that 300 was a fanboy masturbation fest (short for festering) that could have been cut down to 20 minutes if the entire thing hadn't been in slow motion.
there, there my dear. Few corpses are worth tears.

J-Proof

haha - a movie as hyped as 300 is bound to have /some/ level of dissent =)

I think it's still universally loved in our office. I'd still love to see the iMax version (but time is of the essence, and in scarce supply for me these days =P)

Again I reiterate: 300, imo, is fantastic, and the only thing I found out of place was the sex (seemed VERY out of place...) but the movie as a whole was awesome! Watch this movie, then cool down with the Ninja Turtles, and you've had yourself a good weekend!

300 wasn't exactly aimed at the lady-types either.

What's the opposite of a chick flick? Dude food? :^)

I'd rather choke on a used hype than watch a "chick flick"

I love ultra-violence, I thought sin city was great. I have every Tarantino film prominently displayed in my collection.

I just don't see what makes this a good movie...the acting was atrocious, the story wasn't original, the editing was visually interesting but I couldn't get over the whole movie (sans some dialogue) being in slow motion. And I don't even want to get into the sexism, racism, homophobia, pro-war
etc et al. propaganda that stunk up the whole theatre.

Inquiring minds want to know: what exactly made it a good movie?

Well, the sexism, racism, homophobia, and pro-war propaganda were what makes it a great film, obviously~ ::)

Hey, if you didn't like it, then it wasn't a good movie.  Your opinion is just as important as ours.  Didn't like "300"?  Good for you!  You liked "Sin City"?  Me too!

You just rock, it's no thing...
Hi!  I'm Randy and I'm a Riffaholic...

It's funny that she walked out and missed out on the moment aimed at women.

Homophobia? Propoganda, racism, sexism?

You do know that it's based on a Frank Miller comic book right? To each their own, but let me chime in and say _I_ thought it was a good movie because it was super violent and over the top. Just the way I like my comic book movies.

I can get over the so-called homophobia because I'm comfortable with myself and other bodies. Being an art student subjected to drawing nekkid people will do that to you. And I didn't see any propaganda except for the usual Miller slant because I'm a believer that you bring to an art piece your own beliefs and slants. You could see racism and propaganda in Sesame Street if you really wanted to.

For me, I don't carry any of that baggage, so this was a movie i purely enjoyed as a movie. Not a mouthpiece for some corporate, Hollywood propaganda machine; just a big, dumb, violent comic book brought to life.

That is all.

SecretAgentSuperDragon

So you didn't mind the shaded Butler crack?

FordPrefect

A lot of times during the movie I felt like I was watching a movie on DVD and some kid had the remote. "Oh this is really cool! Let me put it in slow motion! Now I'll speed it up! Now I'll back it up! Sweet!" I liked it when they'd occasionally show a sense of humor or put something really weird up on the screen. Was I the only person who saw the goat man in that harem tent or did someone put something in my popcorn?

mrbasehart

I think the deformed chick (she was also in the trailer) was Vanessa Ferlito, one of the former regulars on CSI: New York.
