The Matrix one isn't that great, but Blade Runner and Alien are awesome.

What sort of bugs me about the Blade Runner one is that it was, in fact, a novel already.

Although Blade Runner is so far removed from its source, it might as well be an original story.  I'm pretty sure there are a series of Blade Runner books based on the movie, too.

The movie didn't have enough robot animals for my taste.

From Deadlne April 20, 2012:
Warner Bros Sets Brad Peyton To Helm 'Lobo', The DC Comics Alien Bounty Hunter
Quote from: MIKE FLEMINGEXCLUSIVE: Brad Peyton, who helmed the global hit Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, has just been set by Warner Bros to rewrite and direct Lobo, the live-action film based on the DC Comics franchise. Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman are producing.

Lobo is an alien that works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. Introduced as a hardened, rarely used hard-boiled villain in the 1980s, the character remained in limbo until his revival as an anti-hero biker in the early 1990s, when he became on of the most popular characters in the DC Comics stable. Peyton is repped by Verve and Piekoff Law.

Quote"I want to try to make the Heat of puppet movies. I want to be the Dark Knight or Heat but in a world where puppets and humans coexist. Brian was like, 'This mystery actually needs to be interesting so that even if you took all the comedy out of it, it's still going to be interesting to watch. It is full-on R. There is swearing, there's sex, violence, murder. There's no way... maybe with some work it could be PG-13, but as of now we've embraced the R rating."

Browsing around, I found the trailer for Beyond the Black Rainbow, an 70s/80s inspired horror sci-fi movie.  It's apparently not very good, but the trailer sure looks neat!

Ohhhh boy...another Van Helsing movie...

Starring Tom Cruise no less.

Frankly, the idea of making Van Helsing a badass action movie with creatures isn't a bad idea. It was the execution that was piss poor.
It did make for the best Quiptracks ever, though.

Lotta Avatar filming goin' on...well, you guys probably have it under control.

James Cameron Shooting All Those 'Avatar' Sequels at Once

QuoteNow that he's found his true love in a 3D alien Sam Worthington, James Cameron has openly stated he has no desire to do anything but make three of four beautiful Avatar babies and live out his days under the canopy of their CGI foliage and continued income streams. Naturally, if he hopes to birth these before his ol' blue uterus dries up, the 57-year-old director is going to have to get started soon and work quick, and to that end, he's reportedly going to shoot all three Avatar sequels at the same time.

I guess there's a bit of a spoiler in this paragraph, so read at your own risk.

QuoteIn a profile on Sigourney Weaver, Showbiz411 notes the actress "films Avatar 2, 3, and 4 with James Cameron. That's right: they're making three sequels to the blue 3D phenom all at the same time." Weaver was pressed for more information on the topic but claimed that she doesn't know any further specifics, saying, "I just show up," but as ComingSoon notes, this could easily mean there will be an Avatar every December from 2014 to 2016.

By this point, I've just given up on Cameron being a good filmmaker. I really wanted to see Battle Angel Alita or something else from him. But after Avatar being such a glossy, pretty empty mess, I'm fine with him staying in Avatar movies. They're harmless empty shells of movies, with plots where the most fun is trying to figure out from the trailer what they are ripping off wholesale. If does this for the rest of his career, at least he isn't ruinging anything I care about or really had potential.

George Lucas raped my childhood!...

(uhh we are talking about Cameron now chief)

I... I mean James Cameron! James Cameron raped my childhood!

First a 3D Titanic (which, granted, only molested my childhood, but he touched me in my boy bits in a way that made me feel very tingly.)

Now three Avatar sequel/prequel/spin-off/remake/imaginary alternate universe bullshit is going to full on rape my childhood! Lemme lube up cause I know what's coming next!  I know I don't actually need to see the movies or talk about them, but if I don't then what will I talk about when everyone else is talking about them?  I hope Cameron is gentle with me when he scars me for life!

Sideswipe

As long as he uses the proceeds to buy a planet for his ego.  Theres not enough room for it and everyone else on this one.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

It Looks Like Joe Dante's The Hole is Getting Released in the U.S.

QuoteA listing at Video ETA says Joe Dante's The Hole - a 3D thriller that's been sitting on the shelf for some time in the U.S. - is coming to DVD on September 25th.  Suspect of this, we did a bit of digging and discovered Big Air Studios has come on board to distribute the film domestically.  This is the same company that took out Darren Lynn Bousman's 11-11-11 on a limited theatrical run.

At this time, Big Air has not officially announced plans for The Hole's release, however, it is listed on the company's website.

It's very possible a limited theatrical release is being planned prior to a possible DVD release on September 25th.  We will keep you posted.

Teri Polo, Chris Massoglia, Haley Bennett, Nathan Gamble and Quinn Lord star in the film.

Synopsis: Susan and her sons Dane and Lucas Thompson move from Brooklyn to Bensonville, in the countryside. Dane is upset with the constant changes of address and the family has lived in many cities. Lucas and Dane befriend their next door neighbor, the gorgeous Julie and the brothers find a bottomless hole in the basement of their house locked with several padlocks. They take the locks off and sooner they are haunted by their darkest fears. Further, they believe that the hole might be a gateway to hell.

:highfive: About bloody time.

Man, that came out ages ago over here.  I never saw it, but I heard good things.
