This looks great.

Bill Murray is a Wry FDR in First 'Hyde Park on Hudson' Trailer

Why would Bill Murray want to do new interesting things like this when he could do Ghostbusters 3?

New teaser!

They copied another joke in this one.  From Stella:
Michael Ian Black: America is the greatest country in the world. Think of all the great things that have come from America...
Michael Showalter: Rugby.
David Wain: Chicken tikka masala.
Michael Ian Black: Chinese people.
Michael Showalter: ASS!
David Wain: [in a British accent] Harry Potter.
Michael Ian Black: Rubber balls and liquor.
Michael Showalter: Then I say something.

Paul Rudd was even in this episode.

I guess the upside to all this plagiarism is that more than a handful of people will now actually see these jokes.  ;D

Shouldn't Christina Applegate be in this teaser? The whole first movie was about her becoming accepted as part of the newsteam.

Nunyerbiz

Somewhere I read an article from Adam McKay saying that they were in talks to bring Applegate back as well... but don't know what ever came of that...

Also... Hot Rod is the very definition of a sleeper movie for me... much like Anchorman... Austin Powers... really good comedies that I didn't truly appreciate until the 3rd viewing or so.

Also again... my favorite Elijah Wood psycho performance... never has butthole tasing been so frightening.... or so well relished...

I'm sure they'll have her back in some capacity, hopefully as a lead. I think she's an integral part of the group.

In Paul Thomas Anderson news...

QuotePaul Thomas Anderson has kept a tight lid on his latest project, The Master, but audiences got their first glimpse at the drama Monday when the director released a teaser trailer. The clip runs just short of two minutes and features the film's co-star, Joaquin Phoenix, making his first return to the screen since I'm Still Here.

The Master is the story of a "charismatic intellectual" (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman) who begins a faith-based organization and enlists Phoenix's character, a young drifter, to be his right-hand man. The Master is scheduled for release October 12, 2012.

'Chronicle' Director Josh Trank Knows What Works For Him, Set to Helm 'Shadow of the Colossus' Adaptation

QuoteWhile it was only a matter of time before Chronicle it-boy director Josh Trank signed on for yet another feature, the news of today's project is a bit surprising, if only because he's been so publicly attached to a host of other projects since his unexpected hit. Deadline Argo reports that Trank has signed on to "develop to direct" Sony's adaptation of of their video game, Shadow of the Colossus. Trank is reportedly a big fan of the game, and he specifically "sought out the job."

As my video game knowledge is slim (and will likely stay that way as the only video game I've ever cared about is Grand Theft Auto), a trip to the game's Wikipedia page reveals a lot of vital information about it. Per the page, "the game's storyline focuses on a young man named Wander who enters a forbidden land. Wander must travel across a vast expanse on horseback and defeat sixteen massive beings, simply known as colossi,in order to restore the life of a girl named Mono. The game is unusual within the action-adventure genre in that there are no towns or dungeons to explore, no characters with which to interact, and no enemies to defeat other than the colossi." The game has also garnered a lot of praise in the industry, and is considered "an important work of art due to its minimalist landscape designs, immersive gameplay and emotional journey." There's also a pony in it!

Despite my lack of familiarity with the source material, Shadow of the Colossus sounds like it's quite well-suited for a cinematic adaptation, as it already has a number of traits that signal that it's far more than driving fast and making things go ka-blooey.

Sounds pretty promising, actually. I've been wondering if that game would ever get an actual big-screen adaptation.

Paramount made an odd move:

QuoteIn a surprising move, Paramount Pictures has delayed the release of their upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation until March 29, 2013, a full nine months after its originally planned release date of June 29th.

Part of the postponement allows for the film to undergo a full 3D conversion.

"It is increasingly evident that 3D resonates with movie-goers globally and together with Paramount, we made the decision to bring fans an even more immersive entertainment experience," said Brian Goldner, Hasbro's President and CEO in an official statement.

Translation: The movie we screened to test audiences and executives bombed in the worst way possible, so we're going to take the better part of a year to re-shoot as much of this mother that we can and drop it early next year. And nuts to the millions we've already spent on advertising and audience awareness over the past month.

Yeah, that seems most likely.  Especially to delay it only a month before its release. Retro-fitted 3d looks terrible, and I'm not convinced about the long-term sustainability of 3d in general.

I have to admit, the scene of Bruce Willis popping up in the back of the El Camino got me pretty excited.

They've change the ill-timed Neighborhood Watch title to The Watch.

Hmmm. Not quite as jazzed after seeing this trailer as I was when I initially heard about it. We'll see.

Oh, and it turns out the WUB WUB WUB thing is, in fact, federally mandated now.
