Looking forward to whatever Marvel does next and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET IT BE ANT MAN.  That is, of course, after Edgar Wright does World's End.
I want to see Edgar Wright's "Ant Man" SO BAD!!!

In case anyone is REALLY enamored with Tom Hiddleston (or just Loki), here's a "1/6 scale" (in other words: about 12") 'poseable figure' (i.e. 'action figure under no circumstances you'd let your kids near') from Hot Toys.  It is now available for pre-order exclusively through Sideshow Toys.  [Each picture is a link to the page for them, where there are multiple images of each.  And, no, I don't get a kickback, I just thought there might be some fans who'd like to see these.  (I can't afford any of them at present, and this company's stuff sells out pretty quick, so I won't be getting any.)]

It is obviously a superb sculpt... I've honestly never seen such a dead-on facial sculpt in a figure/statue of this size.  But all of theirs from this film are pretty damn good.  (And yes, the clothing is sewn of actual cloth instead of molded.)  They still have film-accurate Thor, Cap, Nick Fury, and Hawkeye poseable figures, as well as an alternate-visual figure of Iron Man (the Mark II from the second Iron Man film).  I don't believe they've released an 'Avengers'-accurate Iron Man yet, and they have not released a film-accurate Hulk or Black Widow yet either, though no doubt they will.  Each figure is roughly $200.

Iron Man Mark II

If you haven't bought anything from SideshowToys before, their figures (and the figures they carry by other companies, like these) are absolutely incredible.  They are strictly a high-end company.  [A couple years ago they produced a limited edition (of I think 200) life-size model of the original 'Alien' head that was absolutely jaw-dropping, as it was molded from the original molds.  It sold for $1000 per.]  From them, I have a life-size Ardath Bay bust [Karloff's 'The Mummy' 1932], a roughly 20" tall 'Creature From the Black Lagoon', and a 17" tall Neytiri from 'Avatar'.  They are all absolutely incredible and give my home theater room a substantial boost of class. ;) Oh, and they are worth every penny they cost.  [To give you an idea: my father, who has never understood my hobbies, saw the Ardath Bay statue, and, when I told him how much it cost (half a grand), he said, "I would have thought a lot more".]

Think of the stop-motion gay porn animations you could do with these.

Those are amazing. I think they did a fantastic job of capturing Chris Evans' likeness with Cap.

Indeed (and that one comes with two heads: one with, one without the helmet).  They are all pretty incredible and have lots of 'extras' (such as helms for Loki and Thor, etc.).  And, if I had enough 'spare' cash that the anticipated roughly two grand to get all of them wouldn't be a shock to my finances, I might consider getting them.  (I suspect the Hulk will be a tad more money than the rest, given the size he would have to be to match up with the rest of them... but then again, there's a lot less clothing to detail for him, so less effort overall... he may be the same cost after all.)

Oh, but if only someone would make a Joss Whedon action figure.  ;)

I have their Cobra Commander & Cobra Throne that my wife got me for... Hm it was either our anniversary or fathers day. I forget which, but it's freaking awesome.

Starman!

I saw it again tonight, this time in 3D. There's not much I need to say other than awesome!

Yeah, it's a damned fine movie.  Hopefully this will give the opportunity to let Whedon throw his weight around.  Maybe his ego will go nuts like James Cameron.  Only, you know, with better dialogue.  And plotting.

Mascot fail. This seems more like something Aquaman would have.

I mean, c'mon.

Finally got around to seeing Avengers today... Pretty damn good popcorn flick. Some corny dialogue here and there "Nobody knows gamma radiation better than you!" and some Geordi LaForge technobabble in the middle act that meant nothing and went nowhere... but minor complaints. The large ensemble of characters were all pretty well defined despite limited screen time, the effects were appropriately impressive and frantic without ever being hard to follow... The script played it straight for the most part, but didn't forget the requisite sense of humor required to dull the edge from silly sci-fi boilerplate such as the "unlimited power source" McGuffin combined with "rare Earth Mineral X" being used to open the "dimensional whatchamacallit portal" from which spawns "bad ass aliens and shit".... and Robert Downey Jr plays a great schmarmy cocksucker. That's not to say there is anything wrong with silly sci-fi boilerplate or schmarmy cocksucking... but it's not easy to pull off without looking goofy and/or taking your shit too seriously. Avengers comes out the other side smelling like a rose... a nice balance of levity and panache.

Am I the only one who though Stark said "Batman is playing Galaga over there" the first time I watched this? The second time I watched it, he does say "that man" but he says it so quick, it really sounds like Batman.

Now I'm hungry for some schmarmy. Anybody up for some schmarmy later?
