The Avengers thread(may contain spoilers)

I'm pretty sure you mean Shawarma.

Schmarmy is Dennisch Schmiller

Shawarma is just a kebab? fair enough.

With Coulson...
[seriously: if you haven't seen the Avengers, you do NOT want to read any further in this post!]
I realize we talked about this a few pages back here.  But I've been way past my capacity for the last few weeks (some may have noticed the limited posting, others may have welcomed it) so I wasn't able to 'assemble' this idea before.  I'm still not doing well, but I wanted to put something out there...

When I saw the Avengers, and Coulson was run through with Loki's [pike? spear? it's not a lance, as he's not on horseback] I was briefly taken out of the film because we saw Coulson impaled from behind, with the front of Loki's 'pointy thing' showing in front of Coulson.  And it wasn't red.  It was very dark, possibly black.  [Before mentally 'rejoining' the film, I thought, "well, maybe it's because they're owned by Disney now," (forgetting at the time that blood is plenty red in the connected Marvel films preceding Avengers [except for the Hulk's]).]

And, when we saw Coulson later, sitting on the floor, with the kick-ass weapon on his lap, there was NO blood on his chest.  No red at all, anywhere.  And no red on Loki's weapon, either, though it still appeared wet.

Yet, from the location, Coulson would have been pierced through the heart by Loki.  That would tend to result in at least a little blood being visible.

Yes, when Fury tossed the Cap cards on the table, they were covered in blood.  But Natasha made a point of saying, "you got those from his quarters," and I sincerely doubt Nick would've circled back round to Coulson's body to smear his blood on them.  [And, obviously by using the cards at all, Nick is not above playing the not-yet-a-team members.]

What am I saying?

That Coulson didn't die because I don't think he was ever alive.

To paraphrase the old film adage, "if you introduce a ___ in act 2, it needs to pay off in act 4".  Early in the film, Tony commented that it was not him answering the phone, it was an LMD.  Howard Stark was one of the founders of SHIELD.  Who is to say that Howard didn't develop LMDs while he was alive?

Well?  Was the lack of red just a fluke in the print I saw?  Did I not see red because my brain had already passed my functional capacity [personally, I don't think so, but I won't rule it out until I can see it again]?

[And, frankly, if I'm right on this, I will be a bit disappointed.  Coulson was so awesome as a character BECAUSE one believed him to be human.  If he was a robot, then his unflappable nature under the most trying of circumstances is - basically - meaningless.]

Well, shit... after writing this, let's hope I don't need ANOTHER 13 hours sleep tomorrow like I did today.

[Pak-Man]

I saw it Saturday night and recall a spot of red over his heart after getting impaled. If I recall correctly, his jacket falls over it pretty quickly, hiding the wound.

Loki's [pike? spear? it's not a lance, as he's not on horseback]

Fauchard or a Glaive, actually probably the latter as it seemed to be sharp on the outward curving edge. Though the more direct inspiration is a Guan-dao in all likelihood*.

*why yes, I do know a fair amount about edged weaponry, probably best to not look into that further

Fauchard

pedantic.

Saw it again at the drive-in with the kids.  Lot's of fun!

Nope, just describing the fascinating world of razor sharp steel, had to have the one word post, and then go back, because I needed to check spelling.

Thanks for the clarification on Loki's weapon of choice.  I figured if anyone here would know that with no, or limited, research, it would be you.

Aw man, this should have starred Loki.

Actually I was thinking of that video when I wrote that.

If you haven't seen the film yet, skip this.  Seriously.

Made you look!

[LucasM]

There will be a 12" Black Widow figure (to match the others I posted).

I shit you not, THIS is the ONLY 'teaser' picture that SideShowToys has for it at this time!

Harkens back to the regular Avengers/parody Avengers poster remake with the 'ass and sideboob' for the males that was posted just a page or two ago.  [There's no smiley for just plain disgust here.]

That's the Hulk, right? I don't follow comics...

That's really more of a description of J. Lo's ass.

This one would either be called  "the Enchantress", "the Vision" or "the Scarlet Witch."
