QuoteSet in Earth's Utopian future, "Ender's Game" is the story of a young boy, a genius strategist, who is drafted by the International Fleet to destroy the alien Formic race. The long awaited feature-film will be based on Orson Scott Card's award-winning, seminal novel "Ender's Game."

From AICN:
So Orson Scott Card Visited The Set Of The ENDER'S GAME Movie...
QuoteThe scene does not come from the book – very few of the scenes in this movie do – so it was amusing when others asked me how it felt to have my book brought to life. My book was already alive in the mind of every reader. This is writer-director Gavin Hood's movie, so they were his words, and it was his scene.

QuoteProduction for the feature adaptation of Orson Scott Card's sci-fi novel Ender's Game wrapped up earlier this summer, and since Summit won't be releasing the film into theaters until November of next year, updates on the movie have been scarce over the last month or so. But today comes word that the film will be getting an IMAX release.

Ender's Game is mostly set in space and takes place in the future when man is preparing for war against an alien race referred to as the Buggers. The first book in Card's series follows Ender Wiggin, a young boy who's recruited to join a fleet of children preparing for battle by playing strategy games and undergoing other forms of training. While Ender is smaller and younger than most of the other recruits, he soon proves to be something of a tactical genius.

Directed by Gavin Hood, the film stars Asa Butterfield as Ender, with Harrison Ford playing Colonal Graff, and Ben Kingsley playing Mazer Rackham. While the movie was in production, producer Roberto Orci was providing weekly updates on the Ender's Game production blog, offering fans glimpses of the set in addition to blogging about the making of the movie. But since the film finished up shooting, we haven't heard much about the project, and given that we're still more than a year from the release, that's not all that surprising. But it's exciting to hear some new news about the movie, and today, that's the IMAX announcement.

The Wrap posted the news that Ender's Game will premiere in IMAX, stating that Lionsgate made the announcement during a conference call with analysts. As the site notes, Lionsgate has two movies receiving IMAX releases that month, with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire set to arrive in theaters a couple weeks after Ender's Game. That's no coincidence, either. Originally, Ender's Game was set to hit theaters March 2013, but then Summit/Lionsgate moved the film to November 1, 2013 with the hopes of boosting interest in the film by moving it closer to Catching Fire, which arrives in theaters November 22, 2013.

An IMAX release makes sense for a movie like this. I doubt I'm alone in being especially excited to see is the Battle Room, where the kids play training games in zero gravity. That has the potential to look great on the big screen, and even more amazing on an IMAX screen.

Again, it's great to hear an update on the movie. Now I'll resume hoping we'll see a teaser or perhaps a poster for the film at some point in the near future. In the meantime, just remember: The enemy's gate is down.

In the respect that it will be all special effects and no story? Or it'll be one of the greatest sci-fi epics of all time then they'll go back later and add a bunch of unnecessary stuff later?

Yes. They will edit, snip, butcher, replace, and cgi it up with assplosions to the point it will only vaguely resemble the book.
