I posted this topic many many moons ago.   But it's not on here anymore.  I guess it was so old it expired or something.   I also posted it under a different user name.  I can't remember what it was.  I have not been on here in forEVAH.

Anyway . . I'm sure there are a few Sci Fi fans on here no?   :D

In a group of Sci Fi fans there are bound to be a few Transformer fans.

If yall have not seen the development of the movie and all the bots.   Check the myspace Movie forum out.   There is a thread in there that's the longest one ever.  It has all the pictures of all the bots posted now, but they're scattered throughout the thread.

never heard of transformers.  looks kinda interesting, nothing special really, just another scifi movie.

Well I don't know about "just another" sci-fi movie. This one will have giant robots blowing shit up, which is how I like my giant robots (except for the Iron Giant, of course).

I think it's going to be big, dumb, and action-y. As long as there's more Spielberg than Bay, but we'll see. Hopefully Bay won't completely ruin it - his track record is sketchy at best.

Either way I'll be there opening weekend.

i was trying to pretend that i had never heard of transformers lol

Yup, rabid fan here.  *tries to make awesome transforming noise with mouth and, as if often the case, fails*

And...er....shouldn't this thread be in the movie section? Just wondering.

no this is the discussion of the upcoming 2007 transformer bill, being introduced to congress, by the senator from mississippi.  He is asking for more money and also for a further 3 army divisions to help "transform" his state from a natural disaster torn part of our country to a more useful and productive member of the union.

Johnny_Short_Torso

From what I have seen and heard, I am psyched and also convinced it will be a good movie. At worst it certainly won't be a bad movie. Either way I'll be there opening weekend with my transformers shirts on  ;D

Sarcasm, you are so sarcastic.  :D

I probably won't wear my TF shirts to the thing. There's normal fandom, and then there's the scarier part of fandom that, for some reason, is often represented by people showing up to a convention or movie wearing something to do with that convention or movie on their shirts. It's just a personal peeve, however. I'm sure Pak will be sporting his TF duds on opening night and I won't think anything of it.

sarcasm_made_Easy

well yeah what else would i be lol

Sharktopus

I might be wearing a TF shirt to the movie, but it'll probably be overshadowed by the fifteen inch Autobot decal on the hood of my car. Yup. I know. Total dork.

I've seen a few promo images of the toys.  It may be due to the fact that in their own way, they are trying to stick closer to the original.  What I saw for instance, was two different Optimus Primes.  One before he lands on Earth (what the Wiki article referrs to as 'Protoform'), then another after he, uh, transforms his outer appearance to that of a semi...

[/quote]Yeah, the "protoform" or "Optimus Sperm."

The difficulty the movie toys have to deal with is that the bots in the movie don't transform in any logical way - they kind of explode into a bunch of shards then reform. The toys obviously can't do that, so they have to stick to more traditional methods of transforming, which makes them look a little more like the classic character designs. I think the movie bots look cool, but I'd like it if they, y'know, looked like Transformers. But whatever. Giant robots that turn into vehicles blowing each other up? I'm there.

why the hell not??  isnt this the 21st century?  damn it toy makers get with it.  where are the nanomachine toys already

Tyrant

I'm still wondering why they didn't just borrow the designs from the original toys. Seeing as how they can transform in real life. Unless maybe they were afraid they'd have to have most of the characters hopping around like in Southpark. And no one would be able to sit down either.

I suddenly have the urge to dig out my Powermaster Optimus Prime.
