I think it was Abe Lincoln that said, "You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time." Keep up the great work, MKB  :D

Or they could just make one less type of "joke" (that no one will miss if it's not there) and please a few more people.   Seems like a pretty easy thing to do.

Eh, I don't think Rifftrax should get in the business of politically correcting themselves.

Talk about opposite reactions: my girlfriend was happy with the tran jokes because the spider-lady looked a lot like a drag queen friend of hers. She kept saying how much he would get kick out of the riff. So, yeah, to each his own.

Who said anything about being politically correct?  It would just be nice if they could stop with a certain type of joke so that I could watch these Rifftrax with my friends not have them feel like they're being ridiculed.  I don't see a problem with wanting that.   But, no the childish "jokes" continue.  I use to say to that there was really no harm meant by the jokes, but that fact they've continued with it in nearly every riff (and it's especially bad in "The Room" with the Walter bit) is one of two things - laziness or they really do have an issue with those who are Trans.

You can take a joke here or there as no big deal, but a repeated pattern over 5 years says a lot.

That's pretty much the definition of being politically correct; not saying something because it *might* offend some people.

I don't care how small it is, they're still there.  I just want to be able to watch Rifftrax with my friends, but they insist on making that difficult.

I think your friends (and a lot of other people) just need to have more of a sense of humour.

When it comes to Rifftrax, CT, or MST3k in general, I've never felt any jokes about any group or type of people has really ever been done in malice.... and people need to be able to laugh about themselves.  (exception: when the obvious intent is to harm.)

Although, as someone who routinely shits his pants, I feel they need to make fewer fart and poop jokes.  This is a real condition and it shouldn't be taken lightly!!!

Is that part of the 'Grade A' beef process ???

No no no... That's just an accident.  You don't want to know what the 'Grade A' process entails.

I always thought the definition was 'not being an asshole', not using terms you know people find offensive.  I would assume you would have an issue if they making racist or homophobic jokes?

I'm sure Artie's not saying jokes about Trans people are "out of bounds" just as I'm sure you both have a few issues you'd be sensitve if it was joked about, which you'd brush off if they were made occasionally and nobody's asking them to sumit scripts to a comittee (or something) or even worry about offending people because that's not what humor is about.  However pretty much the same jokes on this subject has been made over and over again so even if you found them hysterical the first few times surely you'd be over it by now?  Obviously every riff has the chance to be someone's first or only experience listening to one but I'd like to hope 'MKB' would like to challenge themselves somewhat instead of using the same, easy 'go to' lines.

Yeah, but that's not an issue of it being "offensive" as much as it is "stale"....  I do have issue with the same damn joke being used in 17 riffs in a row, but not because it gets progressively and exponentially more offensive each time they make the joke.  Just because it gets old.  It'd be like going to see the same stand-up comedian multiple times and they end up doing the exact same routine.  It loses entertainment value; it doesn't gain lavels of offense.

As for the trans issue itself, I really only ever knew 2 trans people well enough.... but I do know that they have a sense of humour about it, ESPECIALLY in a "pop culture" sort of sense. (TV comedy, riffs, etc.)  If someone made a joke in person, they'd just brush it off (mostly because the person probably just wanted to rile them up, so they didn't give them the satisfaction), but if say a joke was made on a Rifftrax, or like on It's Always Sunny.... well they'd crack up laughing or cheer aloud.

But they are comfortable with who they are....  Perhaps the people who would dislike Rifftrax because of lifestyle jokes are just too sensitive or unsure of themselves and their lifestyle, in which case it begs the personal point that maybe they should seek counseling.  The issue seems to be with them, and not with the source of possible entertainment.

Hmmm...if we want to talk repeat jokes getting annoying...we should all be standing up for Nick Nolte! (instead of walking OVER him like we usually do).
Well, to be honest they stopped with it the last few riffs...

Your friends might be overly sensitive. They make jokes about everything and use stereotypes. For instance the make
Gay jokes a lot. I am Gay and I don't get offended by them, neither does my boyfriend. We laugh at those jokes. We actually found the dance scene funny.
