I wish I lived in Japan...

Anyway, how would a trans-lingual Trax party work, exactly?

Do you watch the film in English (in which case you have to be sure everyone present is fluent enough not to be thrown by words like klinko-historian), or in Japanese (in which case I'd assume there'd be a few instances wherein the jokes fall flat due to translation problems)?

I plan to have my parties with a mix of foreigners and Japanese people.  My Japanese friends are fairly well versed in English, but I plan to have the movie's audio play in English with Japanese subtitles.  They certainly won't get every joke (of course, I don't get every joke either), but hopefully it will be entertaining enough.  I'll report back after my first attempt!

Or mayhap bewilderment and confusion, due to that fact that in general the Japanese are raised to be very polite, and talking during/over a movie would be an utterly foreign concept to some of them....

Seriously.  Going to the movies here is fantastic.  Of course it better be for around $13 a ticket.  The seats are reserved, and there is actually a first-class row with larger seats, more arm room, and nicer seat material.  I don't think they get cocktails or those little, warm, wet toilettes though.

Welcome to the forums, please accept the following complimentary items which are yours at no charge or expense of any kind.... *Gives sonofthor a Fire Breathing Thunder Lizard, a Cumber Bubble-bund, and a tin of freshly made Artificial Demon Dog Cookies (made with Genuine Artificial Demon Dogs)*

Enjoy!

Thank you kindly, but I think I am most in need of a Gutter Bumber Shoot.  The thing about the Osaka area is that it doesn't rain terribly hard, but when the rain comes you can expect it to last about 2 weeks.
Done and Done! *Gives sonofthor a Gutter Bumber Shoot, as well as the latest edition of Micro Golf, as well as a Public Domain Karaoke Machine*  I know that golf is very popular in Japan. This way, even if it does rain for long periods of time, it won't prevent you from going out on the 'links'.  Also, with the Karaoke Machine, it gives your Japanese friends time to brush up on their English in a unique, fun way that won't cost you a dime, er yen...

Haha, well, I don't know how unique it will be here, but I do force them to sing Backstreet Boys songs when we go to karaoke.  I have to find some way to entertain myself here.  :-)
