To be fair, though, there are many who feel the same way about Manos. This is a particularly haunting Rifftrax. The movie calls your mind to it so the mind can figure it out and be done with it, but the mind will NEVER figure it out, and so it keeps coming back like an alcoholic to a whisky bottle.

Yes, I think you've hit the nail on the head.  This movie is like a wasp, that injects its ovipositor into your skull and lets its larva feed on your cerebrum.  Me, I'm wondering about the chick in Sister Summersisle's house with the bee beard.  She's *smiling* at  Nicolas Cage.  Why?  What does it mean?  And what about the old guy with the bee stings?  It must mean something....or not.

I like to think that he is used for perverse experiments...I mean why has not chewed off his own arm to get out? Its because the experiments are worth it  ;)

bah....I still can't call this a favorite, I loathe it to the fullest extent imaginable....

I just can't enjoy it's terribleness

i agree with mac, ill never watch this again (or at least not anytime soon) this movie sucked and the riff barely saves it.

Nonsense.  We all hate what we secretly crave.  This movie is a shining example of why Rifftrax exists.  Just check out how many posts this has generated.

Personally, movies with a depressing tone (even stupid ones) don't riff well.   "Manos" for me is in this category, as is "Red Zone: Cuba."   Give me something goofy like "Episode I", "X-Men" or MST3K "Mitchell" any day.

I don't know much about guns, but I thought that with automatics, the slide is back when the gun is empty.  Therefore, a guy can't NOT know that the gun is empty.

But Malus is an imbecile, as Mike pointed out.

Actually, just because a pistol is empty, it doesn't mean the slide is left back. When you are shooting, after you fire the last round, the blowback, instead of coming back to chamber another round, is locked back in the same way a doorstop works. However, you can empty all the bullets out of a clip, put the magazine back in, and have it look as though it's loaded. The slide doesn't automatically come back if the clip is empty, only if you have fired the last round out of the clip does it do that.

Also, the weight of many pistols will feel the same if it is loaded or not. 4 lbs of gun compared to the 3 oz or so of bullets in it makes it hard to tell if it is loaded or not.

And remember kids, Safety First. ;)

Thanks.

Exactly when I fired my first 9mm the chamber mechanism locked back after firing off the last round. Correct me if I am wrong, the whole point of the slide back mechanism is that it places the bullet from the clip into the chamber. So if I put the clip back into the gun, it wouldn't slide back until I press a release lever.

How he happened to load his gun with a full clip of amunition(the first bullet had to have been a live round),  and then moments later be an empty gun is just stupidity. But anyway, the movie's plot was so absurd, it's on that same level as the lassie film on Mst3k days. Lassie had some long over drawn out plot to get revenge that it was just nice and conincidental that it all fell into place.

Wait, which MST episode was that?

And, given the fact that he didn't even pull the slide back when he drew his weapon at the end, that means he ran around almost the entire movie with a round in the chamber; BAD firearm safety.

Wait, which MST episode was that?

Lassie in the Painted Hills, I think. Episode 510.

Bob

I am going to keep watching it until i understand the meaning of the awesome "Um, who stole my dance mix tapes?" scene.

WHY WAS THAT SCENE EVEN IN THE MOVIE?????

For me at least, this movie has HIGH replay value.
