yeah it seemed to not be a wickerman anyways  did you see how cage entered it?

Maybe it was a Wicker Hermaphrodite?  ???

Forgive me if this was brought up already but I finally had time to watch this one with the trax last night and I didn't read though the entire thread.  Did I miss a braveheart reference or did they really not make one during the final scene.  Summerisle's makeup matched mels perfectly and I thought it was a sure thing when I watched the movie ahead of time.  I consider it a missed opportunity.  Still a great trax though.

There's a quick reference, but I'm still surprised that it wasn't used more.  It seemed like a potential gold mine.

I thought they could've made some nice football references too--you know how people at football games paint their faces like that. Summersile could have been from Raider Nation or whatever.

Quicksilver

funny, I think mike skipped that one simply because it was so obvious. I thought the same thing though. I was yelling in my head FREEDOM!!!!
The Ood: The Beast and his armies will rise from the pit to make war against God.
Rose: I'm sorry?
The Ood: Apologies. I said: I hope you enjoy your meal.

Hellcat

This movie made me angry.  I liked the original, and this remake had absolutely nothing to offer.  What was the deal with the helmet full of bees?  Were they trying for a 1984-type of torture?  The story was incredibly stupid, with no surprises at all.  Cage was the missing girl's father?  Wow, didn't see that coming.  Cage's character was so clueless, I found myself wondering how he managed to graduate from any police academy.  I didn't like him at all.  Also, I don't like movies where men punch women in the face or kick them across a room.

This movie was ripe for riffing, and I thought that Mike and Kevin did a decent job.  I thought they overdid the "suit vs. sport coat and slacks" running gag, but that was my only quibble.  Some of the riffs I really liked:

"We had the eunuch wash your underthings."
"I'm having a Men Without Hats flashback!"
"Come see the Wicker Man at Patio Furniture Warehouse!"
"I'm afraid Betsy may never wetsy again."

Cosmic Muse

Just because of how hilarious this movie is with or without the Riifs, I'm considering purchasing it it somewhere, hopefully in the Wal-Mart $5 bin.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

Here's a line from a review for the new horror dud The Reaping:

"The only way The Reaping could be worse would be if Swank put on a bear suit and ran through the woods."

This movie DOES answer one question I've been pondering for a long time:

Apparently, Nicolas Cage in a bear suit DOES think, "Oh, shit!" in the woods.

That reminds me of a line I came up with when the stinker The Covenant was released:

If Renny Harlin makes a movie, and no one shows up to dislike it, does it still suck?

I think the original creators of "The Wicker Man" neglected to forsee the eventuality of feminism completely removing the context-sensitive, gender-neutral form of the word 'man' that is currently present in every language I have ever studied other than English.  This, however, makes the decision to make Summersisle a colony of people who spell woman 'womyn' make even less sense.

The Wicker Man is really supposed to be a "man".  It's a very old tradtion.  You burn a male effigy to represent the sacrifice of the Male aspect of Divinity who gives His life for His people's survival.  Stuff like that...
