Ooooh. You're going to hate Jason Takes Manhattan then. Six characters are named Ted, including two of the girls.
It's like what Night of the Blood Beast was for Steve?

Just finished Dead Alive. Wow. I was actually shocked that, based on the standards I set for 'deaths of onscreen victims,' there was only 13 onscreen deaths (allowing for the guts to be considered a character, several unnamed but 'featured' partygoers turned zombies, and the obvious fate of zombie baby). The rest of the onscreen body count belongs to nameless rabble.

Unfortunately I still haven't seen the uncut 'Braindead'...I'd be able to add on more official death (or substitute it for one of the other close shaves I mentioned above), as the nurse would meet her end onscreen. Come on, Jackson, give us what everyone else in the world has gotten to see! That must be one of the few films where the international community got to see a LESS cut version than the American audience.
One Man Band Riffs. 18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.

Well, I watched Five across the eyes and that was really awful. how awful? I'd
rather watch Five the hard way. It's a bunch of stupid girls on a road trip and
the movie is filmed reality style like Quarantine. It sucks. It's really damn stupid.

Day 5: Friday The 13th: A New Beginning

21 deaths!! Sweet Jebus.

This movie, to me, is essentially as if the producers said, "Everyone do a f***load of coke and make a movie."

Movie #5: Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives

My favorite of the franchise, mainly because it has some of the best deaths. The triple decapitation is probably my favorite death of the series. There's also Jason ripping someone's heart out, breaking someone literally in half, and slamming someone's face into an RV so hard that it makes an imprint ;D It also has one of the most groan worthy jokes of the franchise when Tommy Jarvis tells the drunken gravedigger he needs to dig up Jason's grave (to prove that Jason is gone), he responds "Dig him up?! What does he think I am? A fart-head?" which is followed by a cutaway to a bunch of kids at the camp saying "YES!" ::) 4/5

Death count: 17

Total deaths after 5 movies: 70

I liked Teeth. I was really surprised how good it was, considering the crazy premise. Human Centipede is just a gross out movie, and it didn't even succeed at that with me. The idea is gross but you never actually see anything. Considering I've seen soul destroying stuff like Salo and Subconscious Cruelty, not to mention all the various shock videos on the internet, this was incredibly tame in comparison.

#4 QUARANTINE 2: TERMINAL

Ugh. This was pretty tedious. I mean, I didn't really expect much; the first one was just okay. But this one really falls flat. I was really enjoying it while they were on the plane, but I feel they got off the plane and into the terminal too quickly. I was really digging the claustrophobia of the plane and when they move into the terminal, the movie really loses steam in a hurry. At least this one didn't have Jennifer Carpenter aka twitchy crooked mouth.

GRADE: C

Well, I missed yesterday, so I'm off to watch another sequel: Paranormal Activity 2. Oh dear.
VIVA IL ESORDIO DEL DIABETE ADULTO DUCE!!!

In defense of the first Human Centipede, it didn't seem to be trying too hard to be gross-out. People just took the concept without seeing the movie and assumed more than there was going to be (the sequel, on the other hand, apparently leaves nothing to the imagination. I think I'll pass on that one. Also, fuck Salo. Just sayin').

Alright, my two for the past two days:

Wilderness. Low-rent British horror about a group of juvenile detention center inmates (plus the Sergent from Dog Soldiers as their guard) going out on a team-building exercise on an island forest, only to be picked off one by one by a deranged killer (and sometimes each other. Bunch of criminals and sociopaths/psychopaths, this group is). This is the first of what I'm sure will be many late-night-few-options-time-to-turn-to-Netflix-Instant choices, and it really wasn't half bad. Acting got a little wobbly, along with character decisions (natch), and with a group of punk criminals it was hard to get behind any of the characters (even the supposed lead). But it had some decent gore, a nice variety of kills, and general british-y talking (and gay subtext! Didn't see it coming, and it's more totally blatant than subtext, but it's a nice touch really), All good and watchable in my book.

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. I've been waiting a while to see this one, and I'm happy to say it more than met my inflated expectations. Pretty much every backwoods hillbilly convention and trope is turned upside down, as the titular duo are just a couple of good friends who are trying to enjoy their vacation. If only those damn, somewhat deranged college kids would leave them alone. One of those pileup-of-misunderstandings sort of films that leads to one gloriously gory and hilarious death after another (one of which is definitely making my Best Deaths LOC list). It's ultimately a very funny movie that's got a surprising amount of heart, and easily one of my favorite of the year. Seek this one out if you can, it's worth the effort. But avoid the trailer! It spoils way too much (the ones for good movies always do, it seems).

Movie #6: Zombieland

Love this one, great horror comedy. Bill Murray cameo is great and I love that he's now one of the people in my body count total. Only 5 deaths in this one, and 3 of them are in the opening scene where Columbus is explaining the rules. 4/5

Total death count so far: 75

The Wolfman

Blah, blah, blah. Half the cast is crewing the scenery and the other half seem almost disinterested in the movie around them. Only Hugo seems to be acting and he's not enough to save it. Watch American Werewolf in London or the original instead.

BTW- I've spoken about this film before and I didn't like it then. Right now, I'm trying to avoid my stack of "Z grade" horror films for as long as possible. I've seen some of them and there are a few that make Birdemic seem like The Ten Commandments. As a result, I'm watching anything I can right now that will delay that.

I watched the Langoliers when it first came on TV in the mid 90's and I thought it was
the most absurd thing ever. Note to people... if you haven't read anything Stephen King
has wrote, any TV mini-series based on his books are the WORST place to start. I
mean I guess I can see how it's entertaining because it's so bad... however, as a
scary movie it doesn't work at all. It's like the Super Mario bros movie of Stephen King
book adaptations(if that makes any sense at all), it utterly fails at everything it was trying
to do. The Care Bears movie was scarier. Shatner's performance in "Shoot or be shot"
was scarier.
