Ooh that's cool. If he does as good a job with Watchmen as people are saying he did with 300 (I find out in an hour and a half and counting. :^)) then maybe Moore will finally have a movie made based on one of his properties that he'll be happy with. :^)

Unfortunately, Moore has frequently been on the short end of the stick that comics creators have felt for decades. The problem is, movie people think they're smarter than comic people; of course, any reasonable comparison of the hit:miss ratio of movies versus that of comics shows what a laughable notion this is.

I just realized that the narrator of this film, the one Spartan that made it back alive, Dilios, was Faramir in LOTR!

Not including Star Wars episodes 1, 2 and 3, right?

I still maintain that '300' represents how many copies of the DVD will sell when it gets released....

Because I seem to recall a lot of the same initial response to Sin City ...

Well except for all the huge IMAX screenings in the LA area were sold out on opening day. So, methinks it'll be a decent opening weekend and even better sales on DVD. You can't say it's a bad movie if you haven't seen it.

BathTub

Yeah I just read an article where Fandango said that 94% of their online sales this weekend were for 300 and theaters are adding more showings as fast as they can because it was selling out, and 57 of the midnight IMAX sessions were sold out and they were adding 2am sessions.

Well all I can say is my impressions were a bit skewed it was due i large part to the way the trailer was presenting the movie.  Basically  the greatest movie of all time.  If I had a dollar for every time I heard a studio make that claim, I'd be extremely wealthy now.....

Thom_Serveaux

You see that was my reasoning up til now.  Like I started to expound upon in the other 300 thread.  It looked like from the trailers that it was going to be all gloss and no grit.  A fx extravaganza with no room for a compelling story or any real likeable characters.  Remember how cool the Sky Captain trailer looked?
