QuoteHey man, you ain't pickin on me, I didn't make this stuff up.  You want to tell me how stupid my religion is, too?  One of the great things about relativism, is that you don't have to argue about anything.  Everything is true.  And everything is a lie.  (That's from the Order of the Golden Dawn, Aliester Crowley, Israel Re gardie, etc.)

So, I am sure you are right about everything.  As is, probably, Immoral.  However, 300 is a good movie, in my opinion.  You will probably hate it, whatever.

the thing about relativism is not that you dont have to, but that you cant.  It defies rational thought and also makes it clear that rational thought is impossible.

No one said i was right about anything.

Why would i hate the movie?  what reason have i given you that makes you think i wont like it?  granted if your right about relativsm you dont like the movie either.  (ie because its not true that you do like it.)

I still say im glad to hear there is a masculine movie out there.

Zach Snyder hid an image in one of the trailers for 300:

Holy Crap!

What is that?

Zack Snyder is doing the Watchmen movie. That character is Rorschach.

Rorschach, investigating the Comedians death from the looks of it.

Rorschach, one of my favorite heroes.  :-)

Pak-Man

Neat! Is that for real? :^)

sarcasm_made_Easy

well can we define real?  we apparently cant even define truth?  i assume if you beleive you are seeing it, than its real that you are seeing for you at least, unless of course someone else doesnt beleive you are seeing it like me for example.

Pak-Man

Neat! Does that fail to be proven as a hoax? :^)

Well, a rather enlightened Japanese man about 2600 years ago said, "There is only one truth in the Universe, that is there is no truth..." he was smarter than you or me, so, I'm just sayin' I believe him more than you.  But you may be right.  You may be more "rational" than this great man.

And yes, all opinions are valid, I liked this movie, but it's just a movie.  A fantasy film.  Not history, just a beautiful film that I liked.  If you don't like it that's fine.  If you DO like it that's fine.  Everything is true.  Everything is a lie.

When did this board get so un-fun?  I was just having a fun discussion about a killer movie that made me feel good about being a guy, I don't know... crazy...

Mike Nelson is cool, though, huh?  (jeeze)
Hi!  I'm Randy and I'm a Riffaholic...

Pak-Man

You're getting a bit defensive there, Randy. Sarcasm's just against relativism and he's said a few times he's looking forward to the movie despite any historical inaccuracies. :^)

how rare to be defended at all thanks man.

Yeah randy i got nothing against you or what you beleive, at least nothing personal.  On top of being against relativism, i am for open conversation about all topics.  I can only see so many posts of OOOH 300 is awesome before i latch on to something else interesting someone says.  As part of my lets talk about anything mentaility, i want to talk about relativism.

what makes you think he was smarter than me or smarter than you or smart in any sort of way?  his own opinion would say he wasnt smart at all, further his own opinion makes it clear you cant take his opinion, its invalid.

on another topic if something is neither true nor untrue then what is it?

Decartes (to quote someone who WAS more rational than me as far as i know) said " I think therefore i am"

His point is only about existance in a secondary nature (when not taken out of context) he was actually refferring to what must be true.  something that is so true that it cant be refuted.  He surmised that this was the ONLY thing that can be 100% knowable.  Its existance however seems to imply that some things are knowable while others are not.  thus helping make the argument that truth is objective not subjective.

sarcasm_made_Easy

apparently i succeeded in confusing myself lol

ps randy the question you didnt answer which i care about a bit more (j proof didnt answer either) is

Quotedid they stop using that obnoxious uber rapid cut type of action, to blur the fact that none of them can use weapons?

Pak-Man

There is truth. There's just no certainty in it. :^)

I just got back, and it was the exact opposite. Everything went slo-mo so you could see the swords and spears pierce and cut the flesh while the blood splattered the air. Definitely a work of art. I am positive it will win cinematography awards. No doubt.

This movie was absolutely excellent. The fight scenes were like nothing I've ever seen in a ancient war movie before. It was great.

sarcasm_made_Easy

good i hate that shit.  that shit being the rapid cuts.  :)

i want action that makes sense.  i know where the players are what they are doing and why i should think they are cool
