I haven't seen this one yet for reasons which may become evident later in this post.  But let me tell you about depression...

The original film, and by extension this film, is based on... sigh... my own religion.  Yes, that's right, I'm a pagan and this movie is part of a large collection of Hollywood travesties that make me look like a crazy, human sacrificing, moon-bat.

The original British flick is kind of a cult classic with our community because it "sort of" accurately portrayed an ancient pagan culture that may have existed in pre-christian Europe, but... you know... anyways... this remake is supposed to be even more silly and hurtful to our faith so...

Anyways, I'm gonna get it and I am interested to see what the guys do with it, but I know I will be sad.

As a discalimer, we Pagans can really be very level headed, kind, and SCIENCE based, rational people, like me.  And we don't burn people alive unless they really, really piss us off!  (just kidding... maybe...)

No religion is safe when hollywood is involved, friend -- I feel for you, I do

Anyway - true story >>

I was watching the movie in the office and the CEO came in. He saw me cracking up, like literally cracking up to the point of tear drops streaming down my face. Like - my face was red and I found it hard to breathe -- that kind of cracking up.

And he said: "Oh man, I didn't get to listen to the riff yet, but it /must/ be good..."

And I told him: "*gasp* No no no - *gasp* - I'm watching the movie WITHOUT the riff!"

We both had a good laugh about that and he walked out.

I believe at the time I had just watched Cage kick Sobeiski into the wall of photos and knock her out (which cracked me up, cuz it came right after smacking old whatsherface in the nose and knocking her out). Then (omg I'm laughing right now just thinking about it) then when the movie progressed to Cage smacking some crazy pagan in the head while wearing a bear suit...... I LOST IT. LOST IT LOST IT LOST IT. That was SO SO SO funny.....holy crap - I couldn't contain the side-splitting torrents of laughter....

Shame she was knocked out, Sobeiski's a cutie lol

She is definitely a cutie. Even though she's a clone of Helen Hunt, I still thinks she's damn cute.
Aaahh! This movie just throws you violently into the next scene!

SecretAgentSuperDragon

She is Helen Hunt pre-dioxin poisoning.

I really enjoyed this one. The movie is mind-bogglingly bland and absurd. There is absolutely no attempt to create tension, and none of the "shocking surprises" are all that surprising. Mike and Kevin had a lot to work with, and they were great.

I particularly enjoyed the "Meddle-era Pink Floyd" reference and all the Flying Circus "Cycling Tour" references ("Fell off near Bovey Tracey. The pump caught in my trouser leg.").

Haha...I'm still laughing about the "sniffits" comment....good ole' mario bros. 2

What was Willow's deal? The movie might have been salvagable if the actress had managed to convey an emotion at some point. At the end, as she watches Cage Burn, I dunno whether she's feeling remorse, satisfaction, or her latest dose of painkillers kick in. Was the character SUPPOSED to be mentally deficient, or did the Actress impose this on the character?

sarcasm_made_Easy

yea willow was the freaken low point of that movie.  the whole movie sucked ass.

SecretAgentSuperDragon

Yeah, the movie sucked, but the riff was fantastic.

Yeah, they hold down Nick's legs, make him do a power crunch, and Sister Beech stands over him and lays the old meat and veg right on...

sarcasm_made_Easy

the movie was so bad it kept taking me out of the riff.  thats how bad it was.

SecretAgentSuperDragon

I know this might seem like a tall order, but try watching it sans-rifftrax, with the subtitles on, attempt to understand this stupifying story, laugh at all the hilarious bad parts, and then watch the rifftrax again. It'll make a difference. That way you won't spend the entire time saying, "What in the  is going on here!?" ;)

Pak-Man

My favorite riff was their recreation of Willow and whatshischaracter meeting for the first time.

"...And she looked at him with big dewy eyes and said, "Huuuuuuh?"

SecretAgentSuperDragon

:D Yeah, trying to fit a honey-squash in her left ear in the vegetable section of the supermarket. :D

Oh, now she's a bush-baby. ;D
