I'm not convinced M. Night even showed up during shooting. Go to the beginning of the "freeing the towns and villages" montage, when Aang is twirling his staff for a long time before blowing a soldier away and watch that soldier. He's just shuffling in place like he's trying to block a basketball player, which would make some sense if he was close to Aang and trying to find an opening, but the clown's like 6 yards away.
I'm going to go try to make an animated gif of that guy....
Please PLEASE make an animated gif of those goofy team Earthbenders (What are they doing? They're stomping the yard!  :D ) little coreographed dance move. Funniest thing in the whole movie!

It was my stinger. The scream, the pebble... it's sublime.
Thank you! That is awesome!

No kidding. My favorite is the "prison camp" earthbending melee. It's obvious no one behind or in front of the camera had a single clue what was going on during that whole scene.

Setting aside the hilarious 'pebble dance' (as the fans of the animated show have termed it) - you wanna know the saddest thing about that WHOLE prison camp scene? THIS is the Earthbenders' prison camp on the show:

You see that? All concrete and metal. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING OCEAN.

Apparently in M. Night's world, the Fire Nation just relies on making the Earthbenders so depressed that they forget THEY'RE SITTING ON DIRT.

(and yes, they do address the fact that metal is essentially made up of earth in the show, but only Toph is skilled enough to be able to metalbend.)

Before I go look at those - the thing that I find terrible and Rifftrax-buzz-ruing is the lazy gay "jokes" that turn up in some riffs.

If they are as prevalent as the above reviewers have said, I have no interest.
FINE

Conor

Just did some CTRL+F'ing.  The word "gay" is in the script twice.  May have been some selective memories.

I recall two in the riff.  Here. I'll spoil them.

Honestly, I think there are more jokes about french dip sandwiches. However, these occur within about 5 minutes of each other, so that may be throwing off people's perceptions.

Well, you can make a gay joke without using the word 'gay,' and a couple of people mentioned it...

I dunno, some of the Rifftrax gay "jokes" have been pretty uncool in the past. (Sadly, I can't remember specifics, sorry.)

Those don't seem bad...

Gave it a 7, seems like they got stuck on a few themes for too long, like the jokes about the pronunciation of avatar.  But still laughed at least every few minutes so I didn't think is was as bad as some people seem to think.

They are never funny if the person actually is gay, like those directed at Ian McKellan (though I admit, the "not gay at all" line in X-Men was funny), and some of the others have sounded pretty homophobic. Mostly it's just that they use gay comments as a crutch and don't always make jokes out of them, such as in Jaws.

As for Airbender, I won't be able to bring myself to watch it for quite a while. I think I'm just now ready to watch their riff of The Happening, though...

Yes. This.

I don't know, I thought the "Up, up and agaaay." riff in X-men was hilarious. It all depends on context, I guess.

I love the rifftrax guys, but the Avatar joke was pretty lame.

Did I mention everyone should buy the quiptracks version!

I don't think I'm adding anything relevant to the conversation.  I just wanted to say I thought CTRL+F'ing was something different.   ;) :D

All that just for one tiny rock? I would have expected the ground to have opened up underneath the Fire Nation soldiers or something more impressive.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

I love the .gif (thanks again, David!), but the small resolution makes it harder to see. It's even funnier watching it on the DVD. Now I really want a reauthor of this one, just so I can rewind that part when I watch it.
