I gave it a six too... one of the hilarious moments though is when we see ashef mambai's face for the first time and I just about lost it.

Haven't watched this riffed yet (hoping for tomorrow night!  ;D).  I quite enjoyed the sample.  Got me to laugh, snicker, pass gas a bit and nod knowingly with a crooked smile.  For those that have seen it, how does the sample stack up to the whole?

Main reason I'm asking is cuz I don't know if I wanna spend my $ on this or High School Musical instead (I found the sample surprisingly "meh" and feel painfully indifferent about the whole HSM thing).
I give this a 6. Funny, but a little sporadic for me. High School Musical was definitely better.
I expect the Quiptracks is better.

This one didn't strike my fancy all that much. Seemed like they had too many references to old jokes from other movies in this one. It wouldn't be a bad thing, but the jokes seemed a bit forced since they really didn't relate all that much. I'm going to check out the quiptracks version now.

I agree.  The callbacks weren't as frequent as I'd feared they would be after reading the reviews, but they were definitely out of place.

I'm starting in on the Quiptracks reauthor right now.

My thoughts: The 3 game riffstreak is over.. I just finished Clash of the Titans as well and it was like night and day - the riffing on Clash was spot on and engaged the film nicely, here it felt like they were just throwing out whatever and seeing what stuck. The lazy callbacks and the lowbrow fart and poop etc jokes, stuck out like sore thumbs. I got a few good laughs, but for the most part this was a bummer.

I hope they got the weak stuff out of their systems in time to make a return to greatness for Eclipse.

and Clash they had already decided not to do originally. Clash was OK and I enjoyed it more than Airbender but not by much.

I enjoyed HSM much more than Airbender for sure. I have watched it a couple of times now.

My thought exactly. Clash was a little better than Airbender, but still average as Rifftrax go.

Also, those people who think this film is not crap...stay away. In fact, I think the reason for the boredom on the riffter's part is due to the fact that this  movie is just mind numbingly generic and boring on top of bad. Like a modern day Waterworld.

Waittaminute - who doesn't think this movie is crap?
FINE

TTYT

I don't know anyone who doesn't think this movie is crap. Even the people I know with kids who'd never seen the show - their kids hated it, too.

The only decent things about this movie were the costume design, set design, special effects (except for Appa's face - holy fucking humanface, Batman!), and the musical score (seriously, the score's actually pretty good when you listen to it un-mangled on album.)

Unfortunately, M. Night butchered everything when he put them to his shit script, shit fight choreography, and even shittier directing (aside from the actors who played Aang, Katara, and Sokka, it had to be the directing - how else do you explain the guy who played Yinsen in Iron Man performing so badly as Iroh? Or the guy who played that FBI Bowman guy in Live Free or Die Hard failing as Firelord Ozai (WHO YOU NEVER ACTUALLY SEE IN THE LIGHT UNTIL THE THIRD SEASON SEASON OF THE ANIMATED SERIES, ARGGHH - FUCK YOU, M. NIGHT!)?)

Even if you didn't know that the movie completely rapes the first season of the animated show, it's still exhaustively bad to sit through. If you take out those aforementioned decent elements, the movie's on par with Birdemic's level of awful. And for chrissakes, at least Birdemic is trying. The Last Airbender is just...ugh. It just sits and stews in its own inaneness. I can see why the guys found it hard to riff.

Asbestos Bill

I'm not convinced M. Night even showed up during shooting. Go to the beginning of the "freeing the towns and villages" montage, when Aang is twirling his staff for a long time before blowing a soldier away and watch that soldier. He's just shuffling in place like he's trying to block a basketball player, which would make some sense if he was close to Aang and trying to find an opening, but the clown's like 6 yards away.

I'm going to go try to make an animated gif of that guy....

Please PLEASE make an animated gif of those goofy team Earthbenders (What are they doing? They're stomping the yard!  :D ) little coreographed dance move. Funniest thing in the whole movie!

No kidding. My favorite is the "prison camp" earthbending melee. It's obvious no one behind or in front of the camera had a single clue what was going on during that whole scene.

It was my stinger. The scream, the pebble... it's sublime.

Well, you guys have pretty much talked me out of buying this rifftrax.

Meh.

The movie was better than expected, but my expectations were nil. It still suffered from being exceedingly boring and choosing to talk about important events instead of showing them. And I've never seen such stupid and uninteresting fight/action scenes.

As for the riff, it had a few moments but, as others have mentioned, it wasn't particularly clever.

Disclaimer: I have noticed that I usually under-appreciate a riff when I'm watching a movie that I've never seen before (which was the case here). Also, I fell asleep twice while trying to watch this (which hasn't happened since Twilight), so the boring-ness of the movie may have influenced my opinion as a whole.
