Looks like we'll be releasing the reefer show on dvd after all.  but you're right, knowing that a show will eventually be out on on DVD probably does keep people from coming to the theater.  But then again, there's always people who couldn't have made it anyways, didn't have a theater nearby or don't live in the country, who want to see it on DVD.
So all you people outside the country Need to come to the U.S. to see House on Haunted Hill, Capishe?! ;D

Starman!

THANK GOD THE DVD IS COMING OUT!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

what terrific news! Us Canadian fans are frozen to our igloo's so I was unable to drive (11 HOURS!) to the nearest theatre show the live show too bad but atleast I get to see it!

Also maybe if you guys are worried about people skipping out on the live experience could just build in the price of a movie ticket into the price of a regular Rifftrax dvd I would gladly pay extra to save the crazy drive

I don't think it's the money so much as the attendance - they likely have to hit a certain number for the whole production to be a viable thing.

(Can't wait for the live streaming to become a real thing though!)

The Room and Rocky Horror are out on DVD...has that stopped the midnight showings?

Besides, some of us might want a DVD of the show if we enjoyed it....

You need to start pointing out more that the riffs in the live shows and the riffs on the downloadable shorts you sell after aren't always the same

I think debuting new features live would go a long way, personally.

Problem is, the well known public domain movies that the "wider" public would know - Plan 9, Reefer Madness, NOTLD or even Carnival of Souls - have been used.  After that you have to get into the lesser know stuff like Voodoo Man or Maniac which are a crap shoot even with established fans.

Only ones that come to mind are possibly Sex Madness....Dementia 13....Invasion of the Bee girls...?

Maybe it's time they considered dipping their toes in the water for doing a non-public domain film? Given that Fathom Events frequently does broadcasts of (generally older) theatrical films, it seems that the infrastructure to obtain the rights is pretty much in place.

p.s. Invasion of The Bee Girls would be epic. It's in my Top Ten of Most-Wanted Riffs.

I am sure the infrastructure is there but do they wanna spend the $$$ to do it. When they did Over the Top for 1 night in a comedy club I heard the exhibition fee was $1000.00. What would a flick that is getting broadcast to 500 theaters cost?

Dunno, but what if a more modern/famous movie gets more people into those cinemas?
FINE

I also think it could help expand the customer base. The events I've gone to are always well-attended, but I've not seen any sign that the audiences are anything other than either hard-core MSTies and/or people who already knew about RiffTrax.

Oooh, that would be fun.  Got to love the scene were the naked woman is covered in... uh... frothed honey?  Marshmallow fluff? Well, it's hot, whatever it is.

I hope we see a followup for house on haunted hill :<

I had class that day and couldn't go DX I was so friggin bummed out, it was my boyfriend and I's 4th year anniversary too and that would've been AWESOME.

I did catch Reefer Madness, my theatre was PACKED! It was neat to see a bunch of nerds come together for rifftrax.

Even though one did take up roughly two seats :( next to mee...
