They finally snatched Kevin McCarthy

[Darth Geek]

The news comes straight from Kevin's daughter, who stated that McCarthy died of natural causes on Saturday in a Cape Cod hospital. We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our deepest of sympathies to Kevin's friends, family, and constituents.

I know him most as his excellent roles in various 80s Joe Dante movie like his great turn as villain Crenshaw in Innerspace. And of course RJ Fletcher in UHF. But he was best known for his role in the seminal 1956 classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers. His resume spanned an incredibly long time (he was working right up untill the end apparently) and he was always fun to watch and gave interesting performances. He will be missed. My condolances go to his friends and family.

That is sad.  Yeah, I know him best as R. J. Fletcher in UHF... or as Walter Jameson in that one Twilight Zone episode.

Great cameo in the Donald Sutherland remake of Body Snatchers, too ("You're next!").  Great villain in Innerspace....  Played General Ankrum in the "Mant" part of Matinee....  Was in Twilight Zone: The Movie (the "It's A Good Life" part). Did voice work in the Batman cartoons and a couple of episodes of "The Weird Al Show"....

The Howling, Piranha, and all sorts of TV.....even did a movie released this year.

Hell of a career.....

Sad to here it.  I always thought he kind of looked like Paul Newman.  Am I alone there?
