Maybe there's many reasons to make a lot of general Randy Newman references....Toy Story?

If "never guessing it" precludes a film featuring short people and/or Randy Newman songs, then obviously it's not gonna be Toy Story.  Also, I'm guessing that the hint weighs too heavily for the Gary Oldman-as-Matthew-McCanaghey's-midget-brother movie, "Tip Toes"?:
