Hell yes, Princess Peach rocks! She's sassy as hell.

Now, I hate to be that guy to point out an error which means the list has to be fixed, but... Princess Peach is actually #21 on my list, not #4. That probably changes things a bit.

I thought Daisy was the sassy one.

I'm expecting to see a bunch of FF7 characters higher up the list. I never played it, but most of my friends cried when

Got Other M today. The controls are very fluid and the voice acting is good (and the body movements & subtleties of body language are also notable). The gameplay has been fairly easy—though I did just die 45 minutes in. You can recharge all your missiles and up to 99 health, which seems easy, but you have to stand still for a bit to do it and there are a lot more enemies.

FLOCK of RABID SHEEP?!?!

I don't have a Wii. Worth it? I do love me some Metroid.

Pak-Man

Wii ownership is totally worth it, and we're not too far into other M yet, but I have a feeling this is going to dominate our game-time for a while. :^)

Anyway, ON WITH THE LIST!

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Solid Snake, real name David, (commonly referred to as Snake), was a product of the Les Enfants Terribles project and "son" of legendary soldier, Big Boss, along with his "brothers" Liquid Snake and Solidus Snake.

Possessing an IQ of 180 and fluent in six languages, including English and French, he was known as "the man who makes the impossible possible" and his exploits made him into a living legend among the military black ops. Initially a Green Beret, Snake was later inducted into High-Tech Special Forces Unit FOXHOUND during the early 1990s while it was under the leadership of Big Boss. From there, Snake would thrice avert potential nuclear catastrophe.

After the Shadow Moses Incident and subsequent manipulation campaign by the Patriots, the secret organization behind American politics, Snake became labeled a terrorist. He faked his own death in 2007 and went into hiding, although he would later emerge in 2009 to assist Raiden during the Big Shell Incident. After that, his cells would enter a state of accelerated aging, causing his health to decline. The cause of his rapid aging was explained by Dr. Naomi Hunter, who examined Snake and determined that it was caused by planned genetic changes during the cloning process.

David was born in 1972, along with his twin brother, Liquid Snake. By utilizing the Super Baby Method, eight clone babies were created by fertilizing eggs, taken from a healthy Japanese woman, using Big Boss's DNA. They were then implanted into the womb of a surrogate mother, with six of the babies eventually being aborted to promote growth in the remaining two. Nine months later, the mother gave birth to the selected clone babies. The twins had also been modified on the genetic level, with Solid Snake expressing all the recessive soldier genes and Liquid Snake expressing all the dominant soldier genes, which were assumed to be inferior and superior, respectively. A third clone was also later created, known as Solidus Snake, who was a perfect clone of Big Boss.

Trivia:

Snake is voice by David Hayter, who shares his first name!

Pak's Thoughts - Well I'm not a big fan of stealth games, and it might have been Metal Gear Solid's fault that video games spent many years cramming stealth levels into games that should really need no stealth levels (The Hulk!? Really?) but I can't hold that against Snake. Anyone who's gone toe to toe with Mario is OK in my book. :^)

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Toad is Princess Peach's attendant and a long time protector of the Mushroom Kingdom. He is actually a singular character among an entire species of look-alikes (much like the Yoshi species). He usually has the role of a supporting character who tries to help Mario on his adventures however he is occasionally a playable character and a main protagonist at times as well. He once made many appearances in the mainstream Mario games, but has lately been reduced to being a playable character in the Mario spin-off titles, while Toadsworth has taken over many of his previous roles.

Toad basically has the look of the rest of his species. He normally wears a blue vest, large brown shoes and a large diaper-like piece of clothing for pants. In later games Toad's vest has yellow lining. He has a red-spotted mushroom cap, indicating slight cowardice and heavy obedience. A small controversy arose with Super Mario Bros. 2, because Toad was given a blue mushroom cap instead of a red one. However, Toad's blue mushroom cap was actually due to the graphical incapability of the NES rather than a continuity thread. In remakes of Super Mario Bros. 2, such as Super Mario All-Stars, Toad is given a red mushroom cap.

Toad is often foreseen as a happy character (happy almost to the point of childishness). His official artwork often shows him with a wide, happy smile on his face. However, he is also sometimes seen as somewhat of a coward. He is presumably one of the most humble characters in the Mario series, as he seems to be actually aware of his own cowardice. Despite this, Toad is kind and often helps Mario on his multiple adventures.

Toad is almost never seen to get angry. Where most characters would get angry, Toad merely gets upset, and indeed has been described as an impatient character. He is shown to be an excitable little guy, and is often shown running around frantically. Despite all this, he still manages to be brave when the need truly calls for it.

In the Super Mario Galaxy games, Toad's original personality is retained. While being the captain of the Toad Brigade, his cowardliness often causes him to abandon his team at the first sight of danger. However, his loyalness for his friends as well as for Princess Peach encourages him to return to help them as well as to keep on going with the quest to rescue Peach. He is also shown to be rather lazy in these games; he is often seen day dreaming and wishing that the adventure would be done so that he and the others could return home.

Super Mario Bros. 2 revealed that, despite his diminutive size, Toad is somewhat stronger than the Mario Bros., pulling Vegetables and Coins out of the ground faster than any other character. It also showed that he is a very fast character, being able to run faster than the others. This was further influenced in the Mario Kart series, where he is a lightweight character and very often an extremely fast one. Wario's Woods gave him the unique ability to walk up walls, but this ability has not been seen since. Toad used a Hammer in Mario Party 3, but this too has not been seen recently. He is generally considered an expert on items, often giving Mario power-ups and telling him what he needs to do. His appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee as a shield for Princess Peach further hints at the fact that he has good endurance. Additionally, it is revealed that Toad has the ability to emit spores when he is hit by a powerful force as seen in Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64 and the Super Smash Bros. series (though it is the latter game series that he is shown to be able to use this technique as an offensive attack). In the Super Princess Peach minigame Toad Jump, it was revealed that Toad could perform a kind of flutter jump to increase his jumps simply by flapping his arms around wildly after jumping (though the length of how long he could keep this jump depends on how much the player blows into the mic).

Trivia:

Toad's voice is provided by Samantha Kelly, who (I forgot to mention) also voices Princess Peach.

Pak's Thoughts - Toad is one of those love-him or hate-him kind of guys. Despite securing a solid position on the charts at #24, he also made a few people's worst lists. I, personally, enjoy his shrill-voiced antics and he's often my go-to guy in Mario Kart and Mario Party.

@!#?@!?

List of Games:

Q*Bert
Q*Bert Qubes
Q*Bert II
Q*Bert 3
Q*Bert (Dreamcast/Playstation remake)
Q*Bert's Quest (Pinball)
Faster Harder More Challenging Q*bert (Canceled, but available for emulation)

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Q*bert is the hero of an arcade video game developed and published by Gottlieb in 1982. His torso is orange and spherical and he has an elongated tubular nose, no legs, and 2 large feet. He is able to change the color of cubes by jumping on them. His enemies include  Coily, a purple snake that chases after Q*bert; Ugg and Wrong-Way, purple creatures that run along the sides of the cubes; and Slick and Sam, green gremlins that revert the color changes that have occurred. A collision with purple enemies is fatal to the character. Colored balls occasionally appear at the top of the pyramid and bounce downward; contact with a red ball is lethal to Q*bert, while contact with a green one will immobilize the on-screen enemies. Upon dying, Q*bert emits a sound likened to swearing. A multi-colored disc on either side of the pyramid serves as an escape device from danger, particularly Coily. The disc returns Q*bert to the top of the pyramid, tricking Coily to jump off the pyramid if the snake was in close pursuit.[

Q*bert became one of the most merchandised arcade games behind Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. The character's likeness appears on various items including coloring books, sleeping bags, frisbees, board games, wind-up toys, and stuffed animals. In 1983, Q*bert was adapted into an animated cartoon as part of CBS's Saturday Supercade, which featured segments based on video game characters from the golden age of video arcade games. Saturday Supercade was produced by Ruby-Spears Productions, and the Q*bert segments aired from 1983–1986. The show is set in a United States, 1950s era town called "Q-Burg", and stars Q*bert as a high school student. In the cartoon, Q*bert's design was altered to include arms and hands, as well as the ability to shoot black projectiles from his nose. Characters frequently say puns that add the letter "Q" to words. It also includes new characters, similar in appearance to Q*bert, and the game's other characters.

Q*bert has been referenced in episodes of the television series Futurama and The Simpsons. Creators Davis and Lee expressed pride at the longevity of the game's legacy; Davis is also surprised people still positively remember the game. In describing Q*bert's legacy, Jeff Gerstmann of GameSpot referred to the game as a "rare arcade success". Despite its success, the two creators did not receive royalties as Gottlieb had no such program in place at the time. Obtaining the highest score for the game became a goal for players. Doris Self, credited by Guinness World Records as the "oldest competitive female gamer", set a record score for Q*bert in 1984 at the age of 58. Her record was surpassed, and she continued attempting to regain the record until her death in 2006.

Trivia:

Q*Bert was originally intended to fire projectiles from his nose. His game (I kid you not!) was going to be named, "Snots and Boogers."

Pak's Thoughts - Although I have associated a certain yellow dot-chomping arcade character with my online identity, my first arcade love was Q*Bert. He may not have had much of a personality,. but I love his character design to death.

#22 - Andrew Ryan
(64 Points) 4 of 24 Lists - Highest Ranking - #2 - Relaxing Dragon

We all make choices. But in the end, our choices make us.

List of Games:

Bioshock
Bioshock 2

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Andrew Ryan is the founder of Rapture and the owner of Ryan Industries. He is the main antagonist throughout most of BioShock. He only appears in person in the Rapture Central Control level.

Andrew Ryan was born Andrei Rianofski in Russia during the time when the Tzar still held autocratic rule over the country. In 1917 he witnessed the Russian Revolution which catapulted the Bolshevik Party into power. Ryan's experiences under Soviet rule led him to his personal philosophy: the modern world was created by great men who strove to make their own way. Anytime "parasites" gained control of such a world, they destroyed it (as the Soviets did "trading one lie for another," the autocratic rule of the Tzar for the repressions of Bolshevism). In 1919 he changed his name to Andrew Ryan and fled Russia to go to America, believing it to be a place where a great man could prosper.

For a time, he was devoted to his adopted country, grateful for the wealth and fame it awarded his intellect and determination. However, the state social programs adopted in the 30s increasingly tested that devotion. His experiences in the "worker's paradise" made Ryan despise the ideals of Socialism, believing that those who benefited from others were parasites (e.g. he considered Roosevelt and his "New Dealers" to be the ones "spoon-feeding" Americans on the "Bolsevik Poison"). In his mind, one could only own what one earned. For instance, he once owned a large forest as a personal retreat, one that many groups envied (one group told him that it "belonged to God," demanding that he establish a public park there). When the government attempted to nationalize it as parkland, Ryan's response was to burn it to the ground so no one could have it.

The final straw for Ryan was the destruction of Hiroshima with the atomic bomb. In his eyes, the bomb was the ultimate corruption of his ideals — science and determination harnessed for destruction, creating a weapon that gave the parasites the ability to destroy anything that they could not seize.

Ryan's response was to use his entire fortune to build Rapture; a community where "the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, where the great would not be constrained by the small," in the only place he felt the parasites could not touch — the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. He created a shield company on the surface named Warden Yarn (an anagram of his name), and through it he conducted business with suppliers, such as Orrin Lutwidge's Scarlet Sovereign Import and Export, to receive materials necessary to build his city. When Rapture was completed, Ryan filled it with several thousand of the world's best and brightest, and for a time, it was everything he dreamed it would be, a paradise of freedom and wealth. From 1946 to 1958, Rapture experienced tremendous economic prosperity, and solid political stability.

As Ryan predicted, citizens in Rapture created a culture of entrepreneurship that was unrivaled, with numerous businesses established and unprecedented scientific advancement, culminating in the discovery of ADAM by Brigid Tenenbaum. The full implications of which was not immediately appreciated by Ryan who dismissed the concerns of men like Rosenberg and Bill McDonagh. Ryan's failure to understand the ramifications of the burgeoning ADAM-based culture resulted in the rise of a little-known Fishery owner named Frank Fontaine.

With Rapture at its apogee, Ryan hired a man named Carlson Fiddle to build Ryan Amusements a theme park that doubled as a propaganda tool for the children of Rapture. Ryan himself provided narration to many of the rides and animatronic set pieces which attempted to warn children of the evils of the surface. This theme park embraced the city's new ADAM-culture, exalting plasmid technologies like Incinerate! in the Hall of the Future section of the park.

Trivia:

Andrew Ryan's name is an anagram of Ayn Rand, with the letters REW added in. Additionally, his political philosophies and personal history are very similar to hers. For example, they were both born in Russia and emigrated to America after their home country adopted a Communist regime, and both believed in the philosophy of Objectivism.

Andrew Ryan's voice is provided by Armin Shimerman.

Pak's Thoughts - The other thing that rocks about the way that Bioshock defines itself is the mysterious dystopian Art-Deco world it takes place in, and the seemingly ever-present man behind it. His slightly self-important recorded messages tell you you should be walking through Disneyland while your surroundings tell you you're walking through inner-city slums. It sparks one of the most important questions that compels you to play through Bioshock. "What happened here?"

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Wario is the obese, yet surprisingly muscular, hot-tempered, greedy anti-hero, and Mario's yellow-and-purple clad rival. Wario's greed pushes him to commit malevolent acts, such as the seizing of Mario's Castle. Due to his money grubbing personality, he is not liked by many citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. Wario has also proven to be very cunning as he has tricked Mario on more then a few occasions. He often goes out on his own adventures; from stealing treasure to running a mini-game making company. Wario has helped heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom on a few separate occasions as well.

Wario is a greedy person, to a pig-like extent. He is so greedy, he will do anything to get money, be it stealing or going on an adventure. He is also a miser, as he never lets anyone touch his treasure. He can also be seen stuffing his face often like a pig, indicating that his greed is extended to food. Alas, his greedy nature overtakes him and he goes out of control occasionally, even going as far as to double-cross his friends. Like Mario, he has many Italian traits. While he is of Italian heritage, whether he was actually born in the country Italy or not is still a mystery due to the lack of information on his birthplace. Nintendo Power once stated that Wario is Mario's cousin.

Wario's not as dumb as he appears to be since he makes WarioWare games and can fly a plane. In fact, he may actually be very skilled at electronics, as he made a dimensional teleporter in a few seconds. He also constructed the Mario Kart 64 race track Wario Stadium. The reason why many assume he is a bonehead is that he is hot-headed, clumsy, and sometimes forgets his common sense.

Wario is very aggressive, especially in the Mario Kart series, as he pushes racers off the road if in his way. In the Mario Party series, he apparently puts his greedy nature aside to play fair, if that's even in his vocabulary. In general sports, Wario is a braggart and a sore loser, even going as far as to claim that somebody is cheating when he loses.

According to the official website for Wario Land 4, Wario exercises during his free time, and according to the Choose Your Own Adventure book Warioland 4, Wario hates sand.

Wario is considered scary to most of the Toads and even King Boo (though not as scary as Bowser), as revealed in Super Mario 64 DS.

According to the Wario World instruction manual, Wario weighs 308 pounds, although he claims it's just his clothes ("I like to layer!"). He has broad, muscular arms, a large belly, and his excess fat overlaps the openings of his overalls; it is shown his arms and legs are pure muscle meaning the rest of his fat must be stored elsewhere. Wario is prone to outbursts of anger, especially when he doesn't get his way. He has unhygienic habits, such as nose picking.

His skin ranges from a fair to tan complexion. The tone is similar to that of the other mens'. His nose is pink, large, slightly pointed down, and he has large nostrils. Wario's mouth is square, as is his head, with blocky teeth and a fixed grin. He also has a round, thick, cleft chin. He has round black-eyes shaped by his cheeks and arched brows. They are outlined with a light blue, baggy, ring similar to Waluigi's. He has very constricted pupils and his iris is of a very dark shade.

Wario is actually not as short as he appears. He appears much wider than others and he's taller than Mario. In fact, Wario is as tall as Luigi regardless of his stout appearance, but he is still shorter than others such as Peach and Waluigi. His athletic abilities tend to make him a powerhouse character, as is expected with his body type.

Wario has light brown hair, the same color as Waluigi's. His hairstyle is the same as Waluigi's as well, having small flips at the back, swooped up bangs, and styled sideburns. He also has a black, zigzag shaped mustache which is a unique trait.

His strength is many times stronger than a normal man. He is fat but has extraordinary arm strength. He is so strong that his strength exceeds his rival Mario and rivals that of Donkey Kong and even the powerful Bowser. In Wario World, Wario could use his strength to punish his enemies in a variety of ways, including the Piledriver, Corkscrew Conk, and Wild Swing-Ding.

Wario is commonly associated with explosives, including Bob-ombs, and ways of stealing coins, such as a magnet or even a large vacuum of sorts.

Wario's greatest strength, though, is with items, such as the Garlic Pot, Jet Pot, Bull Pot, and Dragon Pot, which give him amazing and unique transformations. He also shares some transformations with Mario such as Fire Wario and Metal Wario. Wario has other various ways in transformings, resulting in transformations such as Crazy Wario, Flat Wario, Fat Wario, Frozen Wario, Electric Wario, and many more. Wario also has the power of farting to stun his opponets.

Trivia:

Wario's name is a combination of Mario and the Japanese word warui meaning "bad".

Wario is voiced by Charles Martinet, who also the voice of Waluigi and both of the Mario Brothers.

Pak's Thoughts - It's hard not to love Wario, the greedy treasure-hogging lug. He made a good villain back in his Gameboy Debut, but for me, he really came into his own in the Warioware series. While Mario lives in a fairy-tale kingdom, the world Wario inhabits is so much more nicely twisted.
