Worms

Incoming!

List Of Games:
Worms
Worms 2
Worms Armageddon
Worms World Party
Worms 3D
Worms Reloaded

The Worms make up your cute loveable army in the Worms series of games. The game, if you've never played it, is beautifully simple: Your worms have 100 hit points each, theirs have 100 hit points each. Everyone is randomly placed on a destructable playing field, and given an arsenal of grenades, bazookas, Sheep, Old Ladies, Flamethrowers, etc... and the goal is to take out everyone on the other team. And Friendly fire is totally possible, so a misplaced Holy Hand Grenade can take out as many of your troops as theirs. Good fun!

Trivia:

The largest earthworm ever found was in South Africa and measured 22 feet from its nose to the tip of its tail.

According to the official website for Wario Land 4, Wario exercises during his free time, and according to the Choose Your Own Adventure book Warioland 4, Wario hates sand.
Just thought I would draw attention to this.

I know. I tried to carve off all the non in-game trivia where possible, but with this crowd, I just had to leave that one in. :^)

Toad was one of my favorite characters before the Gamecube. Loved his voice in the Mario Party games and Mariokart 64 (I'm the best!). When he apparently began gargling with drain-o and scrubbing his trachea with brillo pads, I didn't like him any more.

And Wario FTW. I love him all around, but he's mainly on my list for Warioware.

Hell yeah... Snake is the best. Here... in the cardboard box... Metal Gear?! It can't be!

He is ranked at least 20 spots too low though, but I'll take what I can get. la-li-lu-le-lo

As for Toad, he's not on my list, but my favorite thing about Toad is doing his hilariously gruff voice from the cartoon, man that's a rough voice. He's a smoker.

The problem I had was that the most interesting the character's been is in MGS 3.  And that ain't Solid Snake.  :)

I admit I haven't seen much of MGS 4 though, so he could be awesome in that.

;D Big Boss, I must disagree, since via MGS3, Big Boss retroactively borrowed Snake's voice actor, personality, catch phrases, and whatnot. While I love MGS3 and that character, and of course I get why it's perfect, I give props to the hero who's been doing it since the 80s (in our time).

And hell yeah Snake is legendary in MGS4, best game in the series.

To quote Otacon on Solid Snake, from MGS4:

"You're the toughest, craziest, most hardcore badass on the planet! You're... the shit!"

I knew absolutely nothing about MGS 3 going into it, so I didn't know that it wasn't Snake until the very end.  My ignorance made it awesome.

Johnny Unusual

Nice that Andrew Ryan is so high.  He makes only one brief in the flesh appearance, but the way he makes his presence felt throughout the game makes him a very interesting figure.  Can't wait for Biochock Infinity.

Ditto. I love Ryan, he's got that perfect voice that just conveys his character perfectly. I could listen to his audio recordings all day (in fact, I even have a few on my iPod).

His voice is awesome...that recording that plays at the very beginning gave me chills coupled with the music.

#20 - Cloud Strife
(66 Points) 3 of 24 Lists - Highest Ranking - #1 - Edgewriter

I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!

List of Games:

Final Fantasy VII
Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII
Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII
Dirge of Cerberus - Final Fantasy VII
Dissidia Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy Tactics
Chocobo Racing
Ehrgeiz: God Bless The Ring
Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts II

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Cloud Strife is the main character of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, appearing as the main protagonist in both Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. He also appears in the spin-off games Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- as a supporting character. In addition, he makes an appearance in Final Fantasy Tactics as a playable character earned through completing a series of side quests. Like other heroes of the Final Fantasy series, he appears in Dissidia Final Fantasy on the side of Cosmos, representing Final Fantasy VII.

An arrogant swordsman at first, Cloud must come to terms with the fact his memories are false and rediscover who he truly is. In a theme that has carried over to many of his other appearances since Final Fantasy VII, Cloud attempts to find redemption from his dark and tortured past. His arch rival Sephiroth, having killed many of Cloud's friends, is the metaphorical embodiment of Cloud's dark memories, and the two have done battle several times to finish their conflict.

In Final Fantasy VII, due to the combined effect of Mako poisoning and the influence of Jenova's cells in his body, Cloud unknowingly holds a fake persona created by the Jenova cells mixing his memories of Zack's personality with the somewhat cocky and selfish attitude he believes a SOLDIER 1st Class would have. However, during the game events he eventually restores his original personality, and shows genuine concern for the Planet's fate, a sharp contrast to his persona at the start of the game where he claimed he didn't care about the Planet and only agreed to help AVALANCHE for the right price. Once his true memories are restored, Cloud holds the same personality, although his guilt over the events he allowed to occur remains.

In Crisis Core, Cloud is depicted as a rather shy but slightly more upbeat person who idolizes both Zack and Sephiroth. However, when Sephiroth burned down Nibelheim and badly wounded his friends Zack and Tifa, Cloud does not hesitate to avenge them by hurling the madman to his apparent death whilst himself being impaled with the Masamune.

Despite the dark feelings he may have, Cloud remains steadfastly loyal and true to those he cares about and is always driven to protect them, even going as far as to hide his pain and emotions so he could not worry them. Ultimately, it is his selfless and kind nature that gives him the ability to overcome Sephiroth time and again. His compassion is explored further when he brings Denzel back to Seventh Heaven and shares with Tifa an obligation to take care of the boy because of the guilt they felt for Sector 7's destruction. In addition, Cloud vows to find a cure for the Geostigma that has infected Denzel and many others. Because Cloud saved him, Denzel looks up to Cloud as an idol (much in contrast to Cloud's more fatal idolization for Sephiroth) and both share a strong bond. This is further depicted when Denzel is the first Geostigma victim Cloud heals in Aerith's old church. It is highly possible that Denzel would be next to carry out the hero legacy.

Cloud also has a lighter side, willingly cross-dressing as a woman for a special mission at one point in Final Fantasy VII. He also has a dry, ironic wit in Dirge of Cerberus, when he cracks a joke with some of his allies. Overall, while he has a rather moody demeanor, his personality is not as brooding as that of Vincent Valentine, and does have a sense of humor. Like Yuffie Kisaragi, Cloud also suffers from motion sickness. It has been cured when Cloud upholds a fake SOLDIER persona, but returns when his true self is restored, although his ability to ride the Fenrir on delivery business suggests his motion sickness has somewhat improved.

In The Reunion Files for Advent Children, Nomura explained that while Cloud was initially depicted as a more upbeat character at the end of Final Fantasy VII, he chose to have Cloud be a character that fans would find more familiar, and the script was written to explain why Cloud had returned to such a frame of mind. Nomura also said that a great deal of care was taken to animate Cloud's face and expressions, and over thirty different models of his face were made. His face was modeled to keep "a stiff upper lip", with his emotions and thoughts being expressed through his eyes.

Trivia:

In the TV show Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island, Coconut Fred parodies Cloud through the episode "Sir Nutalot". He appears with Cloud's spiky blond hair, soldier attire, and buster sword but goes under the name of Sir Nutalot.

I have no idea what any of the previous trivia entry means, but I found it to be hilarious.

Pak's Thoughts - Well I wouldn't have picked Cloud (I'm more of a Palom and Porum fan, myself!), but it's good to see Final Fantasy get some representation on this list. Love it or hate it, Final Fantasy expanded everyone's concept of what an RPG should be. I remember so many video game magazine reviews for older RPGs that said things like, "The graphics aren't the best, but great graphics aren't necessary for an RPG." Then along came Final Fantasy in fully-realized 3D and some of the best cut scenes seen to date, and suddenly RPG meant big production values. Whether that's a good thing or not is up for debate, but I can see why Cloud ended up on so many lists.

#19 - John Marston
(66 Points) 5 of 24 Lists - Highest Ranking - #3 - mrbaseheart

People don't forget. Nothing gets forgiven.

List of Games:

Red Dead Redemption

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

John Marston is the main character and main protagonist of Red Dead Redemption.

John Marston was born in 1873. His father was an illiterate Scottish immigrant, his mother was a prostitute who died during childbirth. John's father was blinded in both eyes during a bar fight in Chicago.

In 1881, John's father died of unknown causes, thought to be by drink. John was only 8 years old at the time and was sent to an orphanage where he lived most of his life up to the age of 17 in 1890 and met his future wife, Abigail, with whom he promptly ran away; both later joined Dutch's gang, where Dutch took care of John, teaching him how to read, shoot, and the ways of the West.

John Marston is a former outlaw and bandit. He ran with Dutch Van Der Linde, Bill Williamson, and Javier Escuella, committing bank robberies, train raids, murders and other various crimes across the country. According to Marston, the gang stole and fought for a reason. In stealing from the rich and those who were given too much to give to the poor, they wanted to elicit change in the people of the West, although this might just be his own justification for their actions.

After being seriously wounded in a bank robbery in 1908, and left to die by Bill Williamson and his other former brothers in arms, Marston sought to retire from the outlaw lifestyle. Putting his past deeds behind him, he disappeared along with his wife Abigail Marston and young son Jack and purchased himself a ranch. Between his abandonment of the gang and the beginning of the game, Marston had a daughter, but she died of cholera.

Despite Marston's apparent reformation, he remains a masterful gunman, rider, and hunter. Marston is a rugged survivalist and knows life as a fight to survive; he adheres to the old-fashioned West, in a world rapidly experiencing the advancement of technology. Cars, and gattling guns.

Trivia:

Marston is voiced by Rob Wiethoff .

Pak's Thoughts - Red Dead Redemption looks like fun, but knowing little about the series I don't have much to say about this entry.

#18 - Phoenix Wright

Objection!

List of Games:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Phoenix Wright was a renowned defense attorney who was famous for turning hopeless cases around, getting the defendant found innocent as well as finding the real killer. He handled many cases in his career; out of these, he lost once and his last case was postponed due to the defendant's disappearance. Wright's last trial saw him unknowingly present forged evidence, and thus he was disbarred.

Phoenix Wright has since become a piano player and poker player at the Borscht Bowl Club. As a poker player, he is undefeated, and he considers himself a professional. Wright is still involved in law, being instrumental in re-introducing the Jurist System into California law.

Phoenix Wright grew up as an only child. At one point in his life, Wright broke into a cattle ranch and tipped some cows.

One day during fourth grade, Wright was accused of stealing the lunch money of a classmate, Miles Edgeworth. Due to the lack of an alibi, everyone assumed Wright was the culprit, but Edgeworth and another classmate, Larry Butz, came to his defense. Edgeworth asserted that Wright could not be proven guilty without evidence. It was revealed much later that, even though he had not been in school that day, Butz had in fact been the one who stole the money. The three became inseparable friends after that.

At the time, Edgeworth took strongly after his famous father Gregory Edgeworth, a legendary defense attorney. The class trial would be a powerful inspiration for Wright during his legal career. After the DL-6 Incident, which resulted in his father's death, Edgeworth transferred schools and moved out of town.

Years later, Luke Atmey stated that Wright probably received the same message on his school report card every year: "Careless, with tendancy to jump to conclusions." Atmey was most likely only taunting Wright, although judging from the lawyer's reaction, this wasn't far from the truth. He also later states that his teachers always said he was "a good thunker".

Phoenix Wright is generally quite easy-going in his outlook. His relaxed attitude usually leads to his hyperactive friends leading him around or taking advantage of his good nature, usually by making him foot the bill of large celebratory meals. Wright has repeatedly shown himself to be a loyal friend and lawyer who refuses to back down once his mind is made up. Wright also has somewhat of a sarcastic side that he usually keeps to himself. This tends to manifest itself when dealing with the eccentric characters he comes across (including his friends).

Trivia:

His English first name is a reference to the phoenix, known for reviving itself from the dead; he is famous for his almost impossible comebacks during trials.

His nickname "Nick" is simply a shortened form of "Phoenix" (Phoe-nick-s).

His trademark "Objection!" is voiced by Capcom Globalization head, Ben "Gromin" Judd

Pak's Thoughts - I am positively in love with the Ace Attorney series. The mysteries all have such awesome twists and turns, and the writing is top notch. I love stepping into Phoenix's shoes, and I love his little snide remarks depending on what is being examined.
