That's funny that you can actually shoot the dog in the one game. So does one of the ducks some up holding his body? Is he just gone for the rest of the game?

Pak-Man

He just pops up and text indicates he says, "Don't shoot me. Shoot the ducks!"

Game characters I wish could die:

2. Duck Hunt Dog
1. The stupid owl from Zelda

Doctor Who?

Yay! Falco.

I have spent so  much time playing Starfox and Starfox 64,too bad the other games in the series are not worth playing.

Princess Zelda was on my list, I think. I actually might have put the Duckhunt Dog on my list... I had trouble thinking of characters! T

he Midna character looks interesting, sometime I should get a Gamecube and a few games.

I know you are but what am I

Oh, I don't know. I liked the strategy elements in the DS Star Fox and even though Adventures was a departure, it was well-made...

Invader_quirk

Even though most of the world apparently despised StarFox Command, I stand by it. I think it's very fun and the story lines are fun to follow.

That owl just barely got bumped from my 'best' list at the last moment... because he's AWESOME.

Is there any more loathed VG character than The Duck Hunt Dog?

Well maybe there are some, but he's right up there, especially if  the sheer volumes of Duck Hunt related videos on YouTube is any indication...

Firstly, there's the 'Level 100 Killscreen'

Some of you may remember this was done to the NES version to end the game after completing 99 levels successfully...

Next is an alleged 'hack' of the NES version, in which you CAN shoot the dog!

Funny, I thought I remember the dog havig a crutch and bandaged head wound after getting shot in the arcade version... *shrugs*

Lastly, some poor schmuck finally goes 'postal' on the mutt for his incessant derisive laughing...

A clear cut case of Justifiable Homicide if ever I saw one...

Looks like we were both right Pak...

Both with his dialog, and the bandages and crutches.  (I thought the powder burns were a nice touch as well...)

Whew!  It seems my estimate of how many Duck Hunt vids on YouTube was an understatement!

Too many to post there without transforming this thread into 'YouTube; The thread 2'
(that's not to say I won't be posting a bunch of these there eventually...)

However, I Highly recommend the following;
Duck Hunt Accident
Duck Hunt Dog's Last Laugh (with a cameo from the Mario Franchise)
[QUICKIE] Duck hunt: Dog ownage

Dog Hunt( the 0:27 version, not the 0:13 version)
apparently Nintendo DID make a game in '84 called 'Dog Hunt: The Duck's Revenge' and yes, a duck leaps into the grass and the dog jumps around.  When shot the duck does indeed hold the dead dog up by the scruff of the neck...

...and last , and certainly not least:
"Curse of the Duck Hunt Dog"

Doctor Who?

It's too bad Duck Hunt doesn't work with modern HDTVs :-[

You mean because of the zapper?  Or do you mean the hookups?  Because some still have coaxial hookups and then if you can set the screen resolution to "Full" or "Normal" it would be the right size.  I'm not looking at my NES at the moment but if memory serves it had two analogue hookups.  Though those may have just been the left and right sound.

One thing I've encountered with LCDTVs is that PS2 games now look like shit.  I've managed to dial in the settings so that they look sort of like PSOne games but man that was a disappointment.  Meanwhile games from the era of SNES and Genesis still look gorgeous.  I want a PS3 so bad, especially now that I've pretty much obtained just about every PS2 game I want.  When I did have one for a while I noticed a setting that was suppose to improve the smoothness and picture of PS2 games.  I usually just assume things like that don't work well but has anyone here tried it?

Doctor Who?

I meant because of the zapper.  I hooked my NES up to my Tv last year and sadly Duck Hunt would not work :'(
