FYI: Rifftrax employees: The title of the splash screen advertising the show when you go to rifftrax.com says "Rifftrax Live Christmas Shorts-stravaganza!" You might want to change that.

One thing I really like about the live events is seeing what other Rifftrax fans look like.

The people at the first two I went to all looked pretty clueless....like they were seeing this kind of thing for the first time.

Of course, that was back in Georgia...   ;)

What part of Georgia? If Valdosta, at least one other person got it.

Alpharetta....north of Atlanta.

Ok those northern Georgians, Valdosta is down in the deep south. It is the last "Major city" you pass before Florida, and on that note the next major city you get to after that is Orlando. So still not much hope in much people getting it.

I just hope they bring back the next live event to here.

I guess I wasn't saying so much that they didn't understand what was going on...  Just that they all seemed like they had come to see Plan 9 (or a Christmas show) and it was "Oh, they're going to have comedians talking about the films too?"  And then at the end it was like, "Well, that was interesting."  Kind of like being at a showing of Rocky Horror and the majority of the audience is surprised that some people are up front by the screen acting it out....

Probably wrong but that's what it seemed like.

Anyone from AZ planning on going?

Quote"This event will be broadcast live to movie theaters nationwide on Thursday, August 19 at 8:00pmET / 7:00pmCT / 6:00pmMT and 8:00pmPT (tape delay)."

If you go by Pacific Time, it's not quite Rifftrax Live, is it? It'll be over by the time it starts. And when I'm sitting in the theater, Mike, Kevin & Bill could be back home or at IHOP.

OK...I want to know what the heck happened to my area.

The last two shows were broadcast to a local theater (a BIG one, not some little rinky dink, out of the way place) and had at least one sold out show.  This same theater advertised the upcoming Reefer Madness show.

Now I go online to look up ticketing, and for some reason, the theater isn't taking reserve tickets for the show.  I type in my zip code on the Fathom Events site, and, lo and behold, this theater ISN'T handling the show this time around.

Instead, it's saying the closest theater showing Reefer Madness is 20 miles away.  They even suggest going to a theater in OHIO.  I live north of DETROIT, for Pete's sake.

I mean, it's one thing for a theater to say, "Oh, we're not showing it this time."  It's another thing to ADVERTISE FOR IT, and then pull the rug out from under people by telling them to take their business elsewhere.  What were they thinking?!?

Just out of curiosity, what web browser are you using? I find that the Fathom site's zip code search doesn't work for Google Chrome (what I normally use), but it worked on Internet Explorer.

Another thing is, with my local results, it pulls up 4 AMC theaters and one Cinemark. It says tickets can't be bought online for the Cinemark, but I can go to the Cinemark web site and buy it directly through them. So, I guess the message is: try finding listing info from the actual theater chain's web site because it may be more reliable than Fathom, or any online ticketing services that have deals worked out with certain chains. I hate AMC.

I've checked Movietickets, Fandango, and AMC (yeah, it's an AMC), and I'm guessing they must update over the weekend for the upcoming week, and only showcase big name stuff further on in advance.  Everywhere I go, the movie it says is playing that day is "The Expendables."  The ONLY movie.  30 screens, and all they're showing is one movie?  Unless they were closing next weekend (which they're not, trust me), they only listed "The Expendables" online early since they figure it'll be the hot seller for that week, and want to grab as many advance sales as possible, and everything else will get shoved into the "We'll add it over the weekend" column in the next few days.

Either that, or they've REALLY dropped the ball, and I've got quite the unexpected drive next Thursday night.

Have you tried Moviefone? They tend to show results the other ticket services don't: http://www.moviefone.com

20 miles? I usually have to drive 20 miles to see ANY movie, fucking lousy desert suburban sprawl.

Yeah, I know that 20 miles isn't bad for a lot of people to go...it's just the theater had the last two, and I went up there today to find out they decided NOT to carry this one for some unknown reason.  So, yes, I have to leave town to see it.

But, maybe it's for the best.  This theater is completely surrounded by road construction...a road that seemed perfectly fine last year when they tore it up completely and redid it, but I guess they didn't do good enough the first time around and need to do it all over again.

Ah, life.

EDIT: I did just check Moviefone, and the closest theaters showing it are the same ones that I've seen everywhere else.  So, yes, my local theater of choice can eat my shorts.

I am in the same boat. Other than them working on the road. The closest one showing it is about 70+ miles away.

I have a cousin who lives out in Phoenix, and when he visits here in Delaware, he expresses awe about how close together things are, and how some actual businesses are within walking distance of homes.

It's about 70 miles for me too, but I've been to every live show so far, and I'm not missing this one.

For anyone going to the live taping: Have your tickets come in the mail yet? I'm pretty sure I remember selecting that when I ordered the tickets a while ago and I don't seem to have a confirmation email or anything so I think they come in the post. Right?
