QuoteYou Might Like It If You Like: 'Shaun of the Dead', 'Hot Fuzz,' 'Youth in Revolt,' 'Superbad' (really any movie starring Michael Cera), 'Tron'

I can understand Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and to a point Superbad, haven't seen Youth in Revolt (or even heard of it), but Tron? Really?

I think it means if you like Tron you're probably a gamer so this will appeal to you too?

Scott Pilgrim has tons of heart, great performances there, highly polished film, tons of very inventive and awesome techniques and nice touches. Amazing movie, I loved it!

Saw it back to back with The Expendables, pretty glorious Friday night. See these movies!

Aaaaaaannnnndddd... it's a flop:
http://www.deadline.com/2010/08/first-box-office-the-expendables-13m34m-eat-pray-love-8m23m-scott-pilgrim-5m12m/

Came in fourth after Expendables, EPL, and last week's The Other Guys.
Well it never was going to be a big earner, what with it being a must-see to a niche crowd of geeks (and a curiosity to most others), but I do think it's a wee bit early to be calling it a "flop". Or is one day all it takes these days to show if a film is profitable?

Does anybody else remember back in the old days when people waited till after opening weekend before they declared the movie a flop? We live in such fast paced times.

I remember when the movie-going public didn't care how much a movie made.

Seriously. And look at this thread, everyone that saw it seems to have loved it. One of the people I went with was even warned to stay away from it, but he left happy.

No, actually. So I guess it doesn't really add up to much, except that my friend went in expecting the worst.

a pretty girl is like

I'm gonna go sometime next week and I'll most likely love it but yeah, it's a flop.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

By definition, that seems to be true. And unfortunately that word seems to come with a lot of negative stigma.

I honestly have no idea. Seems like something he'd enjoy too, since he's one of the biggest nerds I know. I mean, he did become friends with the owner of a local toy/comic shop. Oh well.

I just read the first book, also enjoyed the hell out of it. Looking forward to reading the rest.

I was dissappointed that Simon Pegg didn't have a cameo (or did I miss it?).

I believe there is a legal amount of awesome that can be packed into one movie.

Kete

Just got back and I loved it.  My wife and I were laughing the entire time.  Although.....

I guess I must be wrong about enjoying it.  When will I learn that a movie is only good if it makes a truckload of money?

SJP

Yes, real shame it didn't make money...as we all know, good movies make money, like Transformers 2, while those AWFUL movies like, say, Watchmen, why, they only made $100 million TOTAL, not opening weekend.  HOW IN THE WORLD ARE MOVIE STUDIOS GOING TO MAKE MONEY AT THIS RATE?!?

I'm guessing this is going to have an Austin Powers-esque success...people who see it will like it, but most of them will wait for home video to find out about it.
