Doctor Who?

Here's Thor:

That is awesome.

The smartest thing Marvel ever did was bring the production of the movies in house.  It's so much better when you have people who understand and like the characters in charge.  Not to mention if it was left up to studios on their own I don't think we would be getting a Captain America or Thor movie in the first place.  i can't wait for next year.

I was a little worried when they said they were changing the Cap suit, but I love that costume. I hope it looks as bad ass when Chris Evans actually wears it.

I think the colors will be a little more muted on screen...that's just my assumption, though.  I think it'll look fine, but I hope they don't do the Spider-man syndrome where his mask always comes off three seconds into a fight.  Spider-man 2 was the worst at that.  I started wondering if there would just be a big billboard with Peter Parker's face on it at one point.

Anyway, if Batman can keep his mask on, so can Captain America.

Also, I am thrilled to report that spell check knows to hyphenate Spider-man

Now to hope someone who might know what they're doing takes another whack at Ghost Rider.  Sit down Mr. Cage.

Last I heard David Goyer was supervising the "requel" of Ghost Rider.
I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.

Well, didn't he write the first one? And I sure hope he isn't going to direct the new one.

What I would like to see is them do the flame effects practically. Not on set of course, but computer composite them over the actor instead of creating them wholesale in the computer.

I thought the flame effects were really the only thing Ghostrider had going for it.  Well, that and Sam Elliot.  Also, the first was written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson, who also wrote and directed...Daredevil.

Isn't that similar to the Ultimate version of Cap?

Doesn't matter, it looks pretty cool.  I'm hoping in the WWII sequences, he has his original shield though.

Well the shield that we saw in Iron Man 2 was round so i don't think we will see the original, sadly.

Costume looks great.

Agreed.  My favourite touch is the red straps on the white abs.  Nicely done.

I thought Tony was trying to recreate the shield, so the original could still show up, but I could be wrong.

I think it'd be neat if the original was in the WWII bits.  You know what'd also be really neat? Some mention of Sub-Mariner and The Human Torch in that flashback too.  Might be over-egging it a little though.

I don't think they'd be able to mention the Human Torch...I know it's a different character, but Fox has the rights to the Fantastic Four Human Torch, and I think it would be too confusing for the general movie-goer.

QuoteTommy Lee Jones joins 'Captain America'

Actor to play US Army Colonel Chester Phillips

By MARC GRASER
Tommy Lee Jones has joined the cast of Marvel Studios' "Captain America: The First Avenger" as U.S. Army Colonel Chester Phillips.
Chris Evans suits up as the star-spangled superhero in the pic that Joe Johnston is helming from a script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Paramount releases the pic on July 22, 2011.

Hugo Weaving portrays the villainous Red Skull, while Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan and Stanley Tucci round out the cast. Neal McDonough is also negotiating to play "Dum Dum" Dugan.

Actioner will focus on the early days of Steve Rogers and how he volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.

In the early comics, the Phillips character recruited Rogers to join Project Rebirth, behind the Super Solider program. The character will be revamped for the film.

Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige is producing "Captain America," while Alan Fine, Stan Lee, David Maisel, Nigel Gostelow and Louis D'Esposito serve as executive producers.

Jones will next be seen in the downsizing drama "The Company Men," to be released by the Weinstein Co.

Oh, hell yes. Mr. Jones makes every film more watchable. Even stuff like Batman Forever or that film where he's the Marshal looking after some cheerleaders. Woot!

While I really like Tommy Lee Jones, and I'm sure he'll be good in this, aren't superhero movies enough of a blockbuster draw that we don't need big name actors to "give these silly superhero movies credibility" anymore? I just think hiring so many expensive name actors is not a very good use of budget.

Well I sure hope the director can keep him from going over the top like he did on Batman Forever.

Going to suggest that the going over the top there was more to directorial urging than failure to reign in an actor, probably.

Yeah, subtlety was never on the agenda for Batman Forever.
