I learned that .. Goblets of Fire are a bit freaky :speechless:

Darth Geek

I learned that evil spells to bring back warlocks from near death apparently don't work on noses.

Seriously, I was hoping for a Cubert joke about Voldemort's nose being pressed against the side of the cauldren.

NRRork

I learned that good sportsmanship gets you killed.

Oh, and I hate to be one these people, but it's spelled "fiery".
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

ShadowDog

I learned that nobody will give you the slightest benefit of the doubt even after you've saved the school three times!
"Did she just say Chipping?"

MartyS (Gromit)

I learned that during a game students can be put underwater as a test for the contestants, so it's not good to be a friend or relative of them or you could be toast if they fail to save you....

ShadowDog

I also learned that the Tri-Wizard Tournament is a spectator sport despite the fact that the audience can only see about 5% of any of the three events, and usually just the prelude and aftermath of each event.

Not if the goblet likes to fire people......

cfkane

I learned that even Hagrid has needs.

*shudders, tries to wipe the image from brain*

I learned Dumbledore spent the year as a drunken Irishman.

That's actually not a bad way to describe how Gambon played the part in the movie. Although I also like the name most fans of the books gave him: Angrydore. I do think he got it right in the other three movies where he played Dumbledore, he gave him a spark that kinda worked, but he too aggressive in this one.

I learned that Harry's friends are still surprised when amazing things happen to him.

I learned that Harry can take his scar off and put it in a jar by the side of his bed.

I learned that it is good to teach children unforgivable curses that will get them immediately sent to Azcaban. And that doing all three unforgivable curses in a classroom will not get you sent to Azcaban.

I learned that a powerful wizard uses one of Cookie Monster's eyes.

I learned that by "holds a clue without which you can not hope to proceed to the next task" they mean "contains a nursery rhyme that only marginally has anything to do with the next task but don't worry about it because we're going to take you there anyway."

I agree, Dumbledore was terribly written and acted in this movie.  It was like the screenwriter had never read a Harry Potter novel and so had no clue how to write Dumbledore.  <Dumbledore snatches up Harry Potter.>  "Harry!  Come here you lying little shit!  DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET?!?  DID YOU?  IF YOU LIE TO ME I'LL BEAT YOU TO WITHIN AN INCH OF YOUR LIFE!"  <Dumbledore shakes Harry so hard his glasses go flying>

I mean, seriously, what the fuck?

I learned that the Tri-Wizard Tournament is like March Madness.  This answers Mike question as to why the wizarding world would be interested in a contest involving teenagers.
And I'm worse than Hitler.

I was hoping for a Vicar lf Dibley reference because of Barty Crouch Sr.

AND, not part of the movie. but I learned that Mike REALLY needs a vacation.

Well, Gambon has said many times that he's never read the books. That rubs a lot of fans the wrong way, but I'm okay with that.

I think it might've HELPED if he'd read it, but in the end, it's the director or the screenwriter's job to step in and say "Look, Micheal, you've almost got this nailed, but you're playing it a little too intense." This is an established character, so that's not unreasonable at all.

But, like I was saying (if I *DID* say it here, I've talked about this so many times over the years...), I think he ALMOST nails the part. In fact, in the other three movies when he does tone it down and he's less intense, I really like how he plays the part. He's got this energy and this slightly mischievous way that he carries himself that I think really, really, REALLY fits Dumbledore. But, he's also supposed to be very calm and cool-headed. I almost picture him in his office assessing situations and forming plans like Micheal Corleone would. You know, except that Dumbledore is a good guy and has a sense of humor.

And Dumbledore is one of my favorite characters in the books, he cracks me up. He certainly has the vast majority of my favorite lines. It's just a shame so many of his best ones never made it into the movies.
