So is there a chance your most anticipated movie(s) of the summer has/have a chance of being better than Marmaduke? Well the A.V. Club chimed in w/ its thoughts...

On Predators:

100 percent. They say there are two types of people in the world: Those who want to see Adrien Brody and Danny Trejo blowing the shit out of some mean sumbitch aliens, and those who want to see dogs dancing.

On The Expendables:

100 percent. It has Jet Li and it does not have George Lopez voicing a cat.

On Scott Pilgrim:

100 percent. With Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, you can expect thrilling action choreography and low-key humor. With Marmaduke, you can expect step-dancing puppies. This conversation is over.

And on Marmaduke:

0 percent. -. Malkovich Malkovich.

Poor, poor Marmaduke...   :D

Ignoring the fact that there's not enough character potential in Marmaduke to sustain a feature...ignoring the fact that even if there was, he shouldn't talk...ignoring the fact that even if he did, it shouldn't sound like Owen Wilson...

Why was the poor Piemaker cast as his traditionally Hitleresque owner? Is this punishment for bringing the wrong movie executive back to life?

And I just fucking KNOW it's going to be me that has to watch it.

*sigh*

At least I get paid for it!

Well, their track record suggests that they don't riff family films, especially those incredibly irritating ones starring CGI characters.  They haven't done either of the Chipmunks movies yet, so I'm hopeful they don't do this one as well.  But who knows? The film could be amazing.

basehart, I'm looking SO forward to your review of this; even moreso than any soft-core porn review of recent past! This sounds/looks so colossally bad that I'm pondering a viewing when it hits the budget cinema this summer.

Man, if I'm ever in need of an instant chuckle, the 2nd trailer does it in 12 seconds, flat...  :)

You might have to wait a while.  I think it's scheduled to come out in the middle of August here.

I think we can call be thankful for that trend and the fact that we don't have to have Alvin and the Chipmunks in our DVD collections.  I'm sure it'll be referenced a lot though, that's one thing these horrible looking CGI family crapfests give us is plenty of material for jokes.

"The Other Guys"...... okay, I dont really care for Will Ferrell, but that trailer is HILARIOUS

Cosmic Muse

Hmmm...I wonder what the original Garfield movie's rating would be compared to Marmaduke.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

Pak-Man

Yeah, the movie promo at the theater we went to was a huge yellow fire extinguisher. That does not bode well.

Personally, I'd like to see a movie based on the Comics Curmudgeon's take on it, in which the owner and his wife are actually the Hitlers in hiding, forced to take care of a satanic hell-spawn dog. :^)

Christ.  I didn't even know about this movie.  It looks like it would be hazardous for my soul.
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

Darth Geek

I like that at my theater the ad for it is a giant fire hydrant. I wonder how many people have tried peeing on it?

"The movie industry's completely irresponsible for the way they portray explosions!"

And yes, I saw the fire hydrant at my local theater as well.  All I could think of at the time WAS taking a whiz on it, just to spite.  Oh, and I didn't, by the way, and anyone who says otherwise is a FILTHY LIAR!

All I know is, we're going to be in trouble when they finally make the obvious Lil' Abner/For Better or Worse crossover movie.
