Which new console, P3, Wii, or 360?

I think they all have their good points.

Xbox if you like online gaming, they have everybody else beat.  Shooters are the best here too.

PS for RPGs.  You can't beat the graphics on this and the PS RPGs have always been amazing.

Wii for fun games (well, fun is the wrong word because they're all fun, but you know what I mean? Your "Mario" type game, fun, interesting can be challenging but not ones you have to dedicate your life too . . . and then there's Zelda).  Even with Zelda though, the immersion quality doesn't even match the quality of the PS2.

Someone said something similiar in another thread, probably more elegant than me.  For me, the PS3 doesn't have much to offer that the PS2 didn't.  If I were to get another new console (I have a Wii), I'd get an Xbox because the online gaming is so easy and fun.

Arrrrrgh!! I was really hoping we wouldn't have to figure out how to get the darn thing hooked up. Stupid game systems and their networking. There's no chance that they will just fix it in the future so everything will magically co-exist is there?

Pak - What do you mean by the Wii's Virtual Console?
When you get the Wii hooked up to the web (Piece of cake if your house has a wireless router, or if you buy a cheapo $30 transmitter to plug into your broadband-hooked PC), you gain access to the Virtual Console. It lets you download and play old Turbografix 16, Genesis, NES, Super Nintendo, and N64 games for a small price ($5 for NES, $7 for Genesis, $6 for Turbografix, $8 for SNES, and $10 for N64.) I'm buying at least a game a week. :^)
EDIT: Got the prices wrong. Fixed. :^)

Wireless router, I've heard of those. Our internet comes from the phone. Can the transmitter you speak of work with that kind?

Edited to add: We're not big into online gaming at all. Mostly it's for the RPGs, and FUSION FRENZY!! Decisions, decisions.

AmandaGal - My brother has a PS2 and is forever playing RPGs. The fancy hoo-ha graphics are so confusing to me! He plays Final Fantasy and all the ones that look like that. They are so foreign and weird! However, I've seen some of the games on display for the PS3 (like the car racing game where your car blows up if you run into something) and those look nice. Are the games a combination of the two types?

No they are not really a combination, they dont specialize they have a good mix of the two.  Yeah some RPGs can be ridiculously japanese.  Some can be quite entertaining.   ps3 will have the standard combination sports and what not games just like the xbox.

I think the PS3 online gaming is better but the Xbox is still the best.

The PS3 will have all the sports and stuff games, but if that's what you're into, why not go XBox for cheaper?  The real reason to go PS3, to me, is the RPG.

I loved the ps1 and ps2, but the ps3 looks like complete shit.  Overpriced and overbearing.  Wii looks like a great option.  It's cheap, the controls will lead to way for lots of innovative games like on the DS, it's cheap to develope for which will encourage developers.  The XBox360 is a good system too.  Well rounded, reasonably priced, and good game selection.

and the fighting games ;) as i already said.  I will probably own every guilty gear capcom vs, tekken, and etc that gets put out.  I am especially looking foward to virtuafighter 5. and yeah i will play the occasional rpg ;)

There's a new Sonic coming out for the Wii to give you a Sega fix.

other than sonic and dead or alive what does sega really offer?

MrTorso

I always like the Virtua Fighter games. Some of my faves. Every system after the Genisis though stunk the place up. Only a handful of games. After Dreamcast I swore i would never buy a Sega machine at launch.... what came after Dreamcast again???
