Yeah i guess.  I still find it funny that he used brass unicorn, why one earth would you think that was even in the Bible?!

It was meant to be the curse of 'beasts.'

Still an odd choice though.

Now I get it!

I had forgotten Egypt was full of Unicorns at the time :D

Remember, the guy was supposed to be a loon.  Plus maybe there was a logistical issue.  He was able to acquire bats. rats, and locusts, but his supplier was fresh out of frogs, so he had to improvise with the frog mask.

Plus there is this, which may have had something to do with it also:

"God brought them out of Egypt; he hath, as it were, the strength of a unicorn." Numbers 23:22

That's odd.  I just checked two Bibles and they both say "wild ox".  That's odd.

The family bible I own (King James Version published in 1965) has it as I quoted.

But I can understand why it was changed from unicorn to wild ox (another bible I own has it as a wild bull), you wouldn't want unicorns running around in the Old Testament.  It might make it sound like a bit of a fairy tale.

I couldn't figure out if it was supposed to be a comedy.  It seemed like there were a bunch of jokes flying by that I just wasn't able to grasp.  A lot of the performances seemed like they were comedians that were doing their schtick, but since I wasn't familiar with them, I didn't get it.

After the frog, I thought to myself, "I wonder if he's doing the plagues.  No....bat's wouldn't make any sense".  I think most of us agree that the plague thing just didn't work quite right.  Also, I think in most cases, bats and rats just aren't lethal.

Sounds like you've got the Mormon version. There's some weird shit in there. Unicorns are just the beginning.

Nope. Even unicorns are too weird for us Mormons.

Doctor Who?

Yeah both bats and rats tend to run away from people if they see them, not try to eat them.  If I wanted to kill someone I wouldn't count on either doing the job.

Only if I get to preform Dead Parrot with someone.

I don't do Kama Sutra positions since that nasty sprain a while back.  Perhaps Sharky...?

Watched this again last night.  I forgot how goofy and stupid the cop characters were.in this.  They actually get a whole lot more comic-reliefy in the sequel.  Other than that, I still love Price in it, which is enough for me!

Normal pet shop bats and rats do.  But these were obviously blood-thirsty, rabid bats and rats specially trained to carry out their masters bidding.

Same with the locusts, only they insisted on a nice Brussels sprout glaze before they would do their masters bidding.

Doctor Who?

I don't know I have seen quite a few wild bats and rats and they always run away.  I am just saying I would have a back up plan just in case.

Kete

I wonder what would happen if you gave the bats and rats rabies.

Doctor Who?

They tend to just go around looking unwell for a few days and then die,at least that is what I have always read.

Doc is trying to throw us off the fact that he is, in fact, training an army of bats and rats to do his bidding.  Well we are all on to you, mister!

DARN IT!  Six years of my life wasted!

While I think Price is good value in the movie, he's better utilized in the other movies of the period, like Theatre of Blood.

MontyServo

Price is one of those actors that has such a screen presence that he is good value in pretty much anything.

THE QUEEN!!!

Just barely watched it. Wanted to write down my thoughts before I read anyone else's.

Loved it! SO much fun! Not just a suspense movie, but a mystery as well. Very exciting. Love Vincent Price anyway. Fun to set it in the 20s, though the ladies' makeup hardly indicated that era. Fun to make him an organist, kind of an homage to the Phantom of the Opera, the silent film. I feel so British after hearing people talk that way for an hour and a half. I say, Scotland Yard sure made a mess of those murders, not putting the people under surveillance right away. I have to boast I guess that I figured out Joseph Cotten's son was in danger an hour before the cops did. But, whereas that sort of thing usually annoys me and ruins the film, in this case it just added more suspense, so I was okay with that.

Excellent choice! Now I have to go return it, so I won't be reading anyone else's comments for a while.
