Quote"It's set in 2085, about 30 years before Sigourney [Weaver's character Ellen Ripley]. It's fundamentally about going out to find out 'Who the hell was that Space Jockey?' The guy who was sitting in the chair in the alien vehicle — there was a giant fellow sitting in a seat on what looked to be either a piece of technology or an astronomer's chair ... Our man [Tom Skerritt as Captain Dallas] climbs up and says "There's been an explosion in his chest from the inside out — what was that?" I'm basically explaining who that Space Jockey — we call him the Space Jockey — I'm explaining who the space jockeys were ... [The film] is about the discussion of terraforming — taking planets and planetoids and balls of earth and trying to terraform, seed them with the possibilities of future life."

Apparently he's trying to get H.R. Giger back on board for designing.

Always thought that was one of the things the original did right....

We never got an answer about who or what that being in the derelict ship was...

Or if this ship was an unknowing victim of an Alien infestation...or was "Space Jockey" delivering some eggs to the enemies of his race and one got lose and killed the crew on the way there?

Ah well....

I would love it if the whole movie didn't have any humans, and was just about the Aliens and the "Space Jockey" ship crew.

Interesting.  But only one of those I'd take as part of the real story is from Foster's novelization.  Remember how the AvP movies (and even Alien 3) likes to play fast and loose with the time that a face hugger needs and how long before a chest burster matures....

And even then - "Ash describes the Space Jockey's race as a noble people and hopes that mankind will encounter them under more pleasant circumstances." - Ash was always so truthful, wasn't he?

Given the massive sucess of Avatar, he just might get to do that  ;D

That still had humans in it, and the "aliens" were humanoid. I just want something truly unique and creative.

Oh, and DON'T HAVE THE HERO BE A WOMAN! It was innovative back in the first one, but now it is just a huge cliche.
