New Moon will probably get riffed eventually just out of sheer laziness. But 2012... that movie got pretty much ignored, didn't it?

It made $165 million in the US and was the 5th biggest film of last year, worldwide. So, no. Not really ignored.

Just in the event 2012 Is Riffed soon, this one will require AnyDVD to crack as it's another one of those Doozies! 8)

AnyDVD and constant free upgrades is a winning combination!

So I'm finding out :highfive:

I think there are only two reasons for a "new release riff." One is "it must be done, now." The other is "gonna buy it anyway." Iron Man was a "gonna buy it anyway" riff, and wasn't that funny. The Dark Knight was funny because it was such a piece of crap, and fans were "gonna buy it anyway," so that fit both categories. That was also a really trendy little fad. Twilight was only an "it must be done, now" release, since only girls would have bought the DVD anyway. Really stupid girls with bejewelled cellphones. But New Moon isn't even what Twilight was. At this point, people are just rolling their eyes that there's a sequel and the franchise is still around. What needed to be said has already been said. It will probably get riffed because fans want every sequel to everything ever riffed, but nobody needs to be giving money to the studios for a terrible movie, which is made mandatory by the initial lack of a secondary market (and yes, rentals also give them money). Whereas if they wait, preferably 6-12 months, then everybody wins.

As for whether 2012 counts, maybe. It seems like the kind of big budget movie that Rifftrax generally ignores in favor of franchises and nerdy adaptations. Wasn't The Day After Tomorrow a Rifftrax Presents?

Edward J Grug III

It's going to make a funny Rifftrax and I hope it's out as soon as possible.
FINE

You were building up a nice little argument there (one which I could debate), but you shot yourself in the foot with that very last part.  So it's all about not giving movie studios your money?  Why does 6-12 months make everybody win?  Will the jokes be funnier then or something?

Except for the fact that it made 200 some odd million more than the first one.
