OK, just put in the DVD to check because I did remember something happening while they were lifting off, go back and watch that scene, one of the side landing skids gets caught on some metal and the ship does tilt that way, also the skid doesn't retract all the way into it's well, we see it with bits of what we think are metal sticking out around the almost fully retracted skid, we have to assume the alien jumped into the well during the moment it was stuck on the metal.  And that is the well the alien comes out of after they land and are walking under the drop ship, when Bishop gets spiked we pan up to see the alien in the well so obviously it fit in there....
Like I said, the plot hole really is how quick the alien could have jumped in and crammed itself into the well for the skid.  Or having what looks like a wheel well for a flat landing skid might be considered a flaw.
I remember that, but I am still unconvinced. It's a movie! If something happens, SHOW it. There's no reason why they couldn't show the Queen tucking herself into an orifice on the ship or given a hint as to that. No matter how you slice it... it just doesn't work on any level.

Yeah, you're right.  Like Hitchcock really screwed up Psycho by not showing Norman going back up to the house and dressing as Mom before coming back to kill Marion in the shower...."If something happens, SHOW it."....kill all the shock and surprise in a horror film.   ::)

:D

Imagine if there had been a scene in Halloween showing Michael Myers spending 15 uncut minutes using rope, duct tape and curtain rods to hang that dead teenager up in the closet for Laurie to find. You have to SHOW these things, or they don't work.

Which means Night of the Living Dead was the closest to getting it right...   :D

SHOW it.

Everyone else already did my reply, I'll just add:

I saw this opening night in a packed theater, everyone gasped when Bishop got spiked.

When I showed it to my Dad on DVD he jumped out of his chair when Bishop got spiked.

So, Russell, I guess you subscribe to this belief:
"Stress and nervous tension are now serious social problems in all parts of the Galaxy, and it is in order that this situation should not in any way be exacerbated that the following facts will now be revealed in advance." -Douglas Adams

QuoteGin and Titonic ice tray makers in deep water for making light of Titanic sinking

Even with a measure of gin and a slice of lime, it's likely to leave a bad taste in the mouth.
An ice cube tray has gone on sale in which drinkers can make a replica of the Titanic - complete with four icebergs. The product is called the Gin And Titonic Ice Tray.
The manufacturer says it allows drinkers to 're-create history' by making the two objects collide in the glass, but one critic has branded the idea 'sick and distasteful'.
Titanic historian Brian Ticehurst has gone so far as to suggest the product is akin to making light of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
'They are distasteful, hundreds of people died in the tragedy,' he said. 'How long will it be before this firm makes ice cubes of the Twin Towers to commemorate 9/11?'
Tim Brant, secretary of the Merchant Navy Association, was more measured in his appraisal, saying: 'It is a bit of a sick idea and it is distasteful to the people who suffered and their families.
'The sinking of the Titanic is an event that should be commemorated not celebrated.'
The Titanic sank on its maiden voyage in 1912, killing 1,522.
Manufacturer Fred and Friends is renowned for its off-beat household items. The packaging for Gin and Titonic reads: 'Ice ahoy! Gin and Titonic is guaranteed to be an unsinkable addition to your next party.
'This reusable ice tray contains four icy Titanic ships and four menacing icebergs. Pair them up in your mixed drinks and re-create history. Go ahead...sink another round!'
Company spokesman Joe Edmundson said: 'We design housewares that are functional and fun. The Gin and Titonic is quite a good seller around the world.
'Somebody is always going to be offended by something, especially when it involves humour with a little edge.'

Wow.

Talk about bad taste.

Relaxing Dragon

Hardly. At the bookstores around here you can get a tiny iceberg and half-sunk Titanic for a desktop. Making light of this thing is nothing new, and I think that's actually a novel approach to do it.

(*cough*Godwin's Law*cough*)

You mean Legos that are made in Denmark...which was the only country that put the property and bank accounts of the Jews sent to camps into trusts so that they would be protected until they came back?
