Trailer:

Sweet! that's got me excited for it and I'm really not a Cameron fan.

I don't know about this movie... it's kinda weirding me out

QuoteTitanic director James Cameron is convinced lusty male film fans will fall in love with Zoe Saldana as a 10-foot tall blue alien in his new movie Avatar - because he has created the perfect imaginary woman.

The pioneering moviemaker used the very latest camera technology to turn actors and actresses into fantasy beings in his alien love story - and he's particularly pleased with the way Saldana's character came out.

Cameron says, "Right from the beginning I said, 'She's got to have t--s... (and) I came up with this free-floating lion's mane-like array of feathers, and we strategically lit and angled shots to not draw attention to her breasts, but they're right there.

"The animation uses a a physics-based sim that takes into consideration gravity, air, movement and the momentum of her hair, her top."

And there's one scene in particular in which Saldana's character, Neytiri, reveals a nipple that will excite film fans when the film eventually hits DVD - because it was deemed too revealing for a PG-13 rated film.

The director tells Playboy magazine, "We had a shot in which Neytiri falls into a specific position, and because she is lit by orange firelight, it lights up the nipples.

"That was good except we're going for a PG-13 rating, so we wound up having to fix it.

"We'll have to put it on the special edition DVD; it will be a collector's item."

Trailer:

Eh, looks like a lot of work for nothing terribly interesting.

Nice sound and visual work though.

The extended trailer made me a little more excited for it, but I still don't see the "ground-breaking" aspect of it all.  The 3D will have to be bloody amazing.

And unfortunately for me personally that wont be a factor, unless it's 3d that will actually work for my weird uneven vision.

Then I might give it some props. :)

I did like this comment under the youtube vid:

QuoteNuke? the whole damn thing from orbit.

Which really when you think about it would save everyone time and money, they just want to striip mine the planet after all. ;)

I was going to see this movie but now i am kind of weirded out and not sure i want to go.

Cameron has lost it if you ask me.  Also am I the only one who thinks that no matter how good this movie is there is no way it will make back the $500 million he spent on it.

I was just thinking to myself earlier "Yannow, I really don't want to see this overbudget James Cameron film, but I know that the reviews will probably be out of this world and James Cameron will probably be nominated for every oscar for this movie, thus there's going to be so much pressure from every direction that I will have no choice but to see this movie anyway.".

Seriously, the special effects and everything I see is beautiful. I got one question though. They obviously have robotic exo-suits in the future, but they can't do anything for a guy who's in a manually propelled wheelchair? And having the guy turn into this blue 8 foot tall cyan looking stinker who is pressured by what he sees to fight an evil corporation with primitive weapons? I don't know about this movie... it seems more like an idea for a direct to DVD release. I hope to God that what we've seen so far functions only as a subplot.

ScottotD

eh, even if the preview didn't grab me I'd still be going to the cinema to see this.  I'll eventually see it anyway so why not see the best version?

The Playboy interview is great, and he's down w/ arousing PG-13 chubbies!  :D

And I've a date w/ the IMAX on the 18th, this is going to rock.

I rarely let things of this nature sway me, but it's neat to see Soderbergh drop the it's "the craziest shit ever" and Favreau branding "the game changer" label onto it.

But like most fans over @ AICN, I just want my eyeballs fucked, and I'm guessing it's gonna happen.

This has been bothering me since the first trailer, they have a machine that can read your brain and control an avatar, but can't read nerve signals to control artificial legs?  I wonder if they take a few seconds to explain that in the movie?

Just repeat to yourself it's just a movie, you should probably just relax

That sounds really familiar for some reason...

Trumpysgirl

Aw hell, if I stopped watching movies just because the director was some creepy old man then I never would have rented Annie Hall last night.
Dammit, Maverick! Why don't you play by the rules?!

"Joel, what's a Harringway?"
"About a pound."
