Yeah, I thought it wasn't that the world ends, it's just the calendar resets or something.

Our own 'panic' will help that along I'm sure.. 8)

Ick. 2012ers.

I've said this for a few weeks now: I have a challenge for anyone who believes the world will end on Dec. 21, 2012. Sign over all your money and assets to me, effective December 22, 2012. I'm sure we can get that type of paper drawn up pretty easily, and we have the time to do it. I mean, it's of no use to you, right? Nor would it be of any use to any friends, family, or charities, right? Might as well sign it over to me.

Anyone who's not willing to do that has doubt or is just a slave to fads and needs to shut up. Anyone who would actually do that, well, I almost feel bad about taking money from someone so feeble-minded (sure, guys like Michael Bay make a living off it, but he's feeble-minded as well). However, I gave ample warning, it's not like this is an attempt to scam them.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?

That sounds like Lisa Simpson buying Bart's soul for $5.

Actually, it was Milhouse who originally bought Bart's soul for $5. Lisa bought it BACK for him from Comic book guy.  ;)
BTW, I think Penn and Teller put it succinctly enough when some guy who would like to be known as an astronomer
claims that a "Brown Dwarf Star" is going to pass close enough to Earth in 2012 to cause disaster after diaster. Penn
and Teller then go up to Gary Coleman and ask him "Excuse me, are you going to destroy Earth?" And he says "Yes.".
Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich are two of the worst human beings on the face of the Earth for trying to propagate
this BS for their own profit.

I like this 2012 thing.  See, I have several nieces and nephews (seven, with 2 more on the way), who were too young for the Y2K fever.  Now, while the oldest one was born in early 1998, she's still too young to have any memory of that.  I'd like some portion of the next generation to experience a dire, "the world is ending" hype scenario.  Kinda like how 9-11 gave those of us too young to remeber Kennedy's assasination (I was born 19 years after it happened) to have an event that we'll forever remember what we were doing when we heard about it.

Oh come now.  They're just making a movie based on an idea sweeping popular culture.  I'd hardly accuse them of trying to advance some kind of agenda.

Yeah, that would be like condemning Seth McFarlane for doing that Y2K episode of Family Guy right around the time Y2K hysteria was at its peak.

Do you know how many people are really panicking, losing sleep, and committing suicide over this thing? It may sound dumb but it's true. There's nothing funny about it, and their agenda is always $$$.

Anybody who commits suicide over this was bound to make an early exit anyway. Sounds like some good ol' natural selection to me.

I was talking about the 2012 thing in general, not necessarily the movie. BTW your humanity is just stunning, I don't think I've ever seen anyone whose cared so much since Robert Jarvik invented the artificial heart.

Do you?  I mean, have there been actual studies from credible sources, or is there any way that you could give me actual statistics?  Not that I doubt that there are people who are losing sleep and committing suicide, but if there was a significant number, wouldn't there be reports about it in the media?

Because a few loonies are going apeshit over this legend means that nobody anywhere can tell a fictionalized account of it?  That's dumb.

Oh, I'm sure you're right, there must be no people panicking or pulling a Hale-Bopp right now. You're all probably right, it was probably stupid of me to assume people in general don't worry about such things at all and are rational enough to not let it affect their mind or life at all in any way. Yeah, it was real moronic of me me to say that.
