Why did not Zager and Evans warn us of this in their song "In the Year 2525"?

Well they do say "If man is still alive" perhaps they knew of the movie but weren't sure of just how devastating it would be. ;)

Shouldn't this movie be called "y2k12"?

Seriously its the same shit as the y2k bug which was going to cause technology to become self-aware and make planes crash into nuclear plants. Missiles would launch themselves at every city in the world and the world would become a post-apocalyptic unlivable nightmare.  Somehow.

What does "the world is going to end" mean anyway?  It just...stops?  Time stops?  Earth just explodes?  I mean seriously.  Is this when the Book of Revelation gets underway?  Well it can't be that either because I think it says something along the lines of "No one will know when these events will take place" so even if it were all true it wouldn't be 2012 because then that would be a contradiction because we'd be knowing when it all was going to take place.  So I have no frickin clue what we're all supposed to be panicked about.  "Something" is just going to magically happen?  All because the Mayans only created their calender to go that far because it was the end of that solar cycle?  But if this really is Mayan prophesy for this to happen then wouldn't that mean their religion is right and their gods or whatever the hell they believed in are the truth?  Did anyone think of that?

Well as for if the movie's going to be good.  Just remember this is the same director who did Godzilla (1998).

I studied a good bit about the Mayan civilization and especially their calendar while perusing my History degree and in all honesty, they were Seriously Obsessed with time.
It's accuracy is shocking but it didn't mean theworld was coming to an end but rather a chapter of time was ending and a new chapter was beginning..
We'll be here after Dec 21, 2012 probably fighting similar wars and living on as this chapter comes to a close and the next chapter begins.. 8)

Now if those astronomers were wrong about that asteroid scheduled to make a close fly by to Earth in 2031, THEN we may have a problem.. :scared:

You know, I'd point to the making of this film itself as a sign of the impending end of the world -- except I feel somehow that would be playing right into Roland Emmerich's hands.

Besides, there are so many other signs that things are circling the bowl ...

... heck, so many other movies that are signs ...
