Vacation Reboot?

It looks like they're thinking about doing a reboot to Vacation:

It would star Anthony Michael Hall as Rusty taking the same road trip with his kids.

Why does Hollywood insist on messing with my childhood?  I would hope they make it a decent movie, but didn't they just try this with Are We There Yet? and RV?

Yeah...but Rusty always had common sense.

The whole thing with the Vacation movies was Clark and his over-the-top flat-footed optimism that he was going to make the best family vacation ever - and then watch it crash and burn.  Can't see Rusty doing that.

Unless this will be the rest of the family being jerks and he's the put-upon Dad?
