Epic Movie (christ, my hands feel all arthritic just typing that title...)

Well the thing about Epic Movie, even when compared to Date, Scary, etc., is that it's not even trying to bond the movies it spoofs with any common thread. It's become "HEY REMEMBER THIS MOVIE FROM LAST YEAR LOL"(yes, movie execs speak in internet shorthand).

And with ticket sales like this, you can be guaranteed that there's going to be one every (other) year.

Just think of all the potential Riffs these movies have going for them...

They've done some good stuff. I love Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood. And Marlon was really good in Requiem, so they can do decent stuff when they want.

I'm Gonna Git You Sucka! is a lot of fun. Last Wayans movie I liked.

Well, you've got to admit, White Chicks is still better than Date/Epic Movie. And hey, we're back on topic again!

I always tell my friends with great gusto that when you pay for a movie YOU ARE CASTING YOUR VOTE FOR THAT MOVIE. You can't tell me you saw Epic Movie or Date Movie or The Covenant or whatever crap is out because you're BORED. That's not good enough. See only good movies and I swear movies will get better again.

Movie producers seem to go through the path of least resistance to get to their goal or profit. Least resistance = least quality.

With that, I sadly admit I saw "Night at the Museum".  :-

I was bored.

Hey, now! I saw Night At the Museum and quite enjoyed it. I mean, it IS a kids' movie, and based on that standard, I thought it was pretty good (especially when you consider what utter DRECK out there passes for children's entertainment these days).

Scary Movie 1 & 2 were ok.. not great.. just ok.

Anyone that keeps going into those movies that try and glom onto the success of other movies simply by lampooning them is always going to be disappointed.

Yeah, anything that tries to be funny by poking fun of other movies is bound to be crap...umm, wait a second  ;)

Heh heh.

I wish it were so. Unfortunately, movies that try to be funny and fail don't make for particularly good riffing.

The thing about Epic Movie was...it had Borat in it.

Huh?

Yeah. I remember him. Ok. He was funny...this guy pretending to be him isn't.

Am I taking taking crazy pills? Is the rest of the world laughing? You can't make fun of a comedy movie that was actually good.

HA-om, you can't even riff these movies. It be like riffing an unfunny brick wall that make you angry with it's suckieness. I guess will be seeing Epic Movie 2 (or for a better name, "Anything that does count as a Date Movie or a Scary movie, Movie.") Since these movies would be cheap to make, what with not needing to pay anyone to come up with new characters or funny jokes.
